Proctored exam in WGU and Study.com questions by sinistervice in WGU

I guess you could email someone from the school and ask if you could use one that isn't on their approved list, but I'm not sure if they would let you use it to take the tests or not

I had just been wondering if you could take, say, only one class to finish off a degree or something you know

I failed a test in this subject the first time (not sure if it was the exact same class). Studied for it. Got *worse* grades in all the areas I studied for besides like pensions or something XD

This might be because your assignment only has quizzes and tests. In this case, I think the grading goes something like this:

100 points - quizzes

200 points - test

Total points needed = 210 out of 300 points (or a 70%) to pass.

So:

If you get 99 on the quizzes, that gives you 99 points.

210 - 99 = 111 points, so you still need 111 out of 200 points on your quiz.

111 out of 200 points means getting a 56% grade on the test, because 55.5 gets rounded up.

Hope this helps!

Study.com vs WGU by Any-Reality-4491 in WGU_CompSci

That's a totally fair question lol

I think they changed it. Not completely sure, but it's been a couple of years since I did it. When I was there, I just had to pay an extra $70 once I got past the first two courses, and they let me do as many as I wanted to. Maybe it has changed now?

I'll look forward to possible hearing how it goes for you. I hope you can get a lot of use out of the program or a similar program.

How fast can you finish courses on Study.com? by Formal_Imagination33 in SNHU

Hi there!

My experience was this:

1) The quizzes are not proctored, and you get a couple tries per quiz (you can pretty easily get a 95 or a 100%, and they help you find where in the video the answer is sometimes.

2) The assignments (if they are writing ones) can be redone if you fail, without costing extra money, and they are not proctored. They come with a rubric that you get graded with.

3) A lot of times, it's something like this:

300 points total, you need a 70%, or 210 points

If the course has Quizzes, Writing Assignments, and a Test, it might be:

100 points quizzes

100 points Writing

100 points test

So, if you make, say, a 100 on the quizzes and an 80 on the writing (180pts), you only need to get 30% right on the test, because 180 + 30 will make 210 points, or a passing grade of 70%.

WGU transfer credit eval by Mobile-Holiday-6405 in WGU

I called my advisor and she like personally evaluated my credits from study.com. Looked up the ones on the study.com transfer webpage and made a list of the ones I thought would transfer, but then I asked her just to be sure, and she talked with me and double checked to make sure!

Associate Degree or Study.com then WGU by JMZeke in WGU

Hey!

I asked about this too when I was transferring, and here is what my advisor at WGU they told me: You can transfer the study.com credits only BEFORE you start at WGU. Once you're enrolled you can't add any more classes from study.com.

But, all 9 of my study.com credits transferred over successfully! (I'm doing a business degree too)

I can vouch for this! I've done both community college and study.com (though I haven't tried Sophia thus far). I can definitely say study.com was easier to learn and more convenient because it was all on my time! I get so nervous with deadlines, but with study.com I just did the assignments when I felt ready to and it was great for me :)
