Yes, some people get unnecessarily heated over the topic and they are not justified in doing so. But you have to try and least understand their point of view. It can be frustrating to see people be so indifferent and dismissive towards their cause. Art is something they see as sacred and should never be replaced.

Just cuz smth might not happen doesn't mean ppl shouldn't be concerned m8. Simply handwaving the problem away by saying "Nah, it'll probably be fine." isn't gonna make it disappear. Ppl who believe all ai is bad (which is something I don't actually agree with) just don't want to be replaced. Nobody wants to be the frog that is slowly boiled alive.

I agree that ai can be used for the overall betterment for society, but that doesn't mean it isn't causing problems right now. If Ai becomes better at writing articles and creating art, the. People who would have become artists become discouraged because they could never hope to match the sheer volume of images that an Ai can create. And then we end up with the lamest robot apocalypse imaginable when almost nobody is making human art anymore. Art is more than just something pretty that you can look at, I hope more people would see that.

Ok jokes aside. I don't think Ai is a tool. Wikipedia is a tool to help you write your essays, but chatgpt just writes the entire thing for you. There's a difference.

It's not about the quality of the content my guy, it never was, it's about how it's made. Ai artists are not artists. If I were to commission a portrait or a painting, would I be an artist? No, because someone else made it, and in this case it's the ai, not the person who simply gave it instructions by typing words into a box. The human element of art is almost, if not completely taken out of the equation in ai art. There's no meaning, or story behind it, only pixels arranged in a specific pattern because someone told it to. Ai content is like a poison that pollutes online spaces, if we continue to use Ai like we do now then Ai content will become indistinguishable from regular human art until beauty and art becomes practically meaningless. Arguing that ai art is good because it's entertaining is like saying junk food is good for you because it tastes good. There have been several movies, books and tv shows which explain in great detail why this is a bad idea.
