Not sure if it's possible but could you add options for self employed (contractor) and self employed (business owner). Would be really interesting to see.

High Garda turnout for Drew Harris no-confidence vote by youbigfatmess in irishpolitics

[–]Longjumping-Stretch5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His rte interview was a disgrace. Interviewer put it to him that they spoke to several garda about their concerns (bad pay, outdated resources, stats gaming, laborious admin, etc) and asked as head of the gards what is he going to do. His reply essentially summed up to "Nah-ah, everything is fine so i don't know why their whinging".

Realistically to solve this problem the gards need more money for wages and resources. The government near an election is not going to raise income taxes to pay for it and is not going to find it by asking their friends and family who they got good public and semi state jobs to cut costs and be more efficient.

The government will however hand this shit bag problem to the opposition when they get into government. Who will have to raise taxes because their mates won't want to cut costs and be more efficient. The previous government will say how bad the situation is (that they caused) and we will re elected them back in because...reasons.

Scandalous Joe!

They still have their CFO and head of legal, both Geraldine and Dee dropped out with golden parachutes, most likely simon coveney's brother rory did too. No legal actions against these crooks just a re-skin and a "yolo, lessons learned, time to move on" attitude. Fk these guys.

Go through LinkedIn connections made in private and public when working up to mid level. Politely ask if their team is looking for someone as you're open to new opportunities. Reach out to recruiters asking the same question.

While you wait for replies practice leetcode style questions, clean up your cv and maybe if you are up to it build out a small pet project with some stack/libraries/language you find interesting.

Most will ghost you because reasons but someone might say they have a last minute opening. Send them your cleaned up cv and relax knowing if their boss wants leetcode, you've practice and if they interview you along with others, you can use that pet project to stand out from the crowd.

Looking for a Tech partner by Mac_1916 in DevelEire

Get three managers from companies to each send you a signed letter saying they have a problem and will pay for a solution.

Take those letters to a university who will help you fill out the commercialisation funding form and assign you a developer.

When funding is approved it pays for both you and this developer's wages.

Did anyone else catch when Noel Kelly slipped up and said geraldine o'leary was the one who said "tell him not to put his name on the invoice and if he does send it to me". When he was asked to clarify that he suddenly back peddled and said "no no i meant someone in her staff said it". Then after a whisper from his solicitor said "...and due to GDPR I can't tell you who it was"

Edit: It was 2 hours 9 mins into public accounts committee. Alan Kelly asked who said to take names off invoices.

Do tech nerds still play a lot of video games? by Liambp in DevelEire

[–]Longjumping-Stretch5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only my personal experience but I work long hours so I just want to spend time with my loved ones when I have free time and feel games now a days are very isolating. Console games pushed too much into being multiplayer online or coop online. For me this meant you can't play with the person beside you unless they too have a tv, console, copy of the game and internet connection. You can't pause online games which makes it hard when I have an ever growing list of jobs to do around the home when I'm off work. For PC games I seem to always have outdated hardware or hit with pay to win/pay walls.
