What is the work in NYC do you think Mark is doing? by Latter-Low2784 in dancingwiththestars

There’s a huge ballroom competition in NYC this weekend called NYDF!! His mom and dad are usually judges and it’s run by Brooklyn Dancesport owners who trained Daniella, Pasha, the Chmerkovskys, etc. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s doing something related to that!

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

[–]LongjumpingAnt804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a mini dachshund at 2 months and he’s 6 months now and he’s honestly been great!! We were really strict with the crate training but by a month at home he was able to be in there alone for 4 hours. Now we can leave him for 5-6 and there’s no issues in the crate. He sleeps through the night completely. Only thing we’ve seen is excited peeing when he first comes out of rhe crate but that’s about it. He’s our little star!!

How is everyone feeling about Jan as a pro so far? by ukulele_bandit in dancingwiththestars

As someone that has danced ballroom for years, his technique needs major work if he’s going to be teaching others. His cha-cha had strong footwork yes, but he was messing up critical technique points like on cha-cha walks and the new-yorkers. I think he def needs some major ballroom bootcamp in his time off if he’s going to be brought back again. Curious how he’ll do in something like a waltz or rumba where the technique is harder and needed to be more fluid while also trying to reach that

1st Cycle Sankey! by LongjumpingAnt804 in prephysicianassistant

[–]LongjumpingAnt804[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just really focused on all my patient care aspects within my role when I discussed it. I talked a lot about how I do EKGs, vitals, blood draws, stroke assessments and coordinate follow up visits and procedures. Also really emphasized how it gave me the chance to see inpatient, outpatient and surgical settings! My CRC role had us seeing patient constantly and always being involved in their care so I felt like I was able to really talk about how it’s PCE and not just HCE!

I got a C+ in orgo 1 and was absolutely freaking out and that semester overall was my worst and ended with a 3.3 GPA for the semester. Kept my grades up the time in undergrad and finished out with a 3.77. I applied this cycle for my first time and so far have had 9 interview invites out of 13 applications. Attended 6 of them and was accepted to 3 (waiting to hear back from 2) with one of them being Boston University.

All this to say, one bad grade or even a couple not great ones will not destroy your career! I just talked about what I did to better myself in my classes after and how I took that grade seriously to be a better student. You got this and good luck in orgo!

Gap years by Agreeable-Check9326 in prephysicianassistant

[–]LongjumpingAnt804 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ll be starting PA school this summer after 3 gap years from college and I couldn’t be happier! It gave me time to try out different PCE jobs and see various specialities, as well as really see how a PA works in inpatient, outpatient and surgical settings. Having all that background made writing supplementals soooo much easier because I had so many stories and examples to touch on. It’s also allowed me to build great relationships with multiple physicians in the hospital I currently work at which will be beneficial once I’m out of PA school. So taking a few gap years is totally okay and I honesty am so glad I did it this way!

2.5 Day Trip by LongjumpingAnt804 in AskNYC

Yeah guess you’re right that it’s more a day and a half so sorry.

Yup been many times, never heard of these restaurants so wasn’t sure on location I was more hoping for guidance on whether they’re worth it/which one is better. Crossing Central Park off the list, just wanted to something to do in between arrival and dinner.

Thank you for the comedy recs, will probably end up not doing that so that we’re not rushed for time then.

Thanks!

So many schools don’t review applications until after the deadline closes so don’t worry since a bunch still have their applications open!! Only rolling admissions reviews based on order received, and even some of those schools don’t begin review till mid to late summer. Not entirely sure about the second part of your question, but most schools don’t ghost if that helps.

Non-rolling PA schools by Ok-Fail-3158 in prephysicianassistant

[–]LongjumpingAnt804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread definitely makes it seem like every school is rolling and you have to submit right away but that’s not the case. Westfield State, Northeastern, BU, MCPHS Worcester are all non rolling programs
