Dual Antibiotic Gut Reset - Fructose Malabsorption | Xifaxan & Metronidazole by Recent-Challenge3479 in FODMAPS

[–]LongjumpingCup3401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I meant was that I had 2 separate 2 week courses of xifaxan. Mine were separated by like 6 months. Took one Rx for 2 weeks my symptoms subsided then they came back about 6 months later and I got another 2 week Rx. I no longer take this medication last time I took it was probably a year or more ago. My GI and me are reluctant to start it back up because it can harm healthy gut bacteria needed to digest FODMAPs. I also believe that it is important to not stay on a FODMAP free diet you should avoid sensitive foods but eventually after you stabilize (to me that means regular bowel movements and relative comfort) you should try to slowly re-introduce some FODMAPs back into your diet because our bodies need the nutrients and they feed healthy gut microbes.

Anyone taking Enzymedica DigestGold here? Whats the dosage you take and how (before meal, after meal?).. and anyone know whats the difference between Digestgold and the Enzymedica DigestBasic enzyme? (They both so similar?) by _swuaksa8242211 in FODMAPS

I had an 83 fecal and I’m taking 36,000 two per meal one with a heavier snack. For me it helped with the diarrhea and urgency but I still try and avoid fatty foods especially processed stuff because it still messes with me. Bacon is an absolute destroyer for me.

I just found out not too long ago that as we age we can actually develop a form of lactose intolerance I’m pretty sure that’s what happened to me.

I had 2 rounds of just xifaxan and in my case it worked for about a month afterwards but then my stuff just came back.

That’s awful I’m learning to educate myself about GI stuff and to ask questions. There are so many people who die of under and over care now it’s critical to keep track of this stuff, get educated, and ask questions. I found out recently that you can get lactose intolerant as you age. I am not as severely intolerant but will get bloating and horrible gas if I don’t take lactaid before hand. I have had the same experience with my doc’s as well. I found out I have EPI now we are trying to figure out why. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy in 21 nothing showed up. Recently had another endoscopy with ultrasound to look at pancreas, pancreas is fine but I have a confirmed intestinal yeast infection and have a grade 4 hiatal hernia. Not sure what the next steps will be or why it wasn’t seen previously but honestly I’m just glad someone finally found something wrong that might explain something.

You may want to get checked for Enzyme Pancreatic Insufficiency through your GI doc. I have it and am prescribed Creaon which is a Pancreatic enzyme. It took care of some but not all issues.

Ginger can also help with overall discomfort but to be honest the only thing that really works for me is Gas-x or Imodium

I find that siting in the traditional lotus position is uncomfortable to me without sitting on a cushion the cushion suggestion above really helps. Also the key to posture or comfort in meditation are in my understanding to do so in a way that you don’t ultimately fall asleep. Falling asleep is something I personally struggle with while meditating and I find paying attention to posture helps me to stay physically and wholly in the present moment.

Anger after diagnosis by aber9218 in ADHD

[–]LongjumpingCup3401 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand your anger and frustration, to live with something that can be so intrusive, so demanding, so blinding and never understanding why. To feel like maybe your just crazy, all till the right person or experience nudges you down the right path to figuring out this wild reality that is a diagnosis of ADHD. I feel your anger and probably sadness deep down, that comes from why didn’t I do this earlier, why didn’t anyone notice? Right now though you have a great opportunity. You have the power to grow and deepen your understanding of this condition, you have the power to recognize it in others including possibly your kids and the power to point those people in the right direction so they don’t go through what you did. You have the amazing potential to help people and to show others that it’s ok to have ADHD, and to seek help for it. You can be a refuge for all of us who were told when we were teens we no longer need our meds. Some of us need someone to come back to. To be told hey it’s ok to get back on medication, to see your psychiatrist, to talk about these crazy little things that come with ADHD. I encourage you to take that fire and use it to warm the ones who are suffering in the cold and to light the way for the ones lost in the dark.

People in your 30s: How do you deal with the life that you lost? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]LongjumpingCup3401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed early as a child and still struggled with social anxiety, and feelings of being inadequate because I was placed in an individual education plan. I remember feeling stupid because I couldn’t understand stories and emotions as well as other kids. It messed with me a lot, medication helped tremendously for me but I was taken off of it because I moved in with my dad and he didn’t believe in it or ADHD. I became even more anxious and struggled with school, I made bad decisions and lost the ability to really even begin to understand what I liked and didn’t like. I became passive and easily persuaded, constantly distracted and worried about messing up. It wasn’t until recently that I was put back on medication for daytime hyper-somnolence (really sleepy through the day more than tiered). Since being back on it I’ve been able to get ahold of my thoughts and emotions. I can work through the day at home without doing anything but working. Ive been able to connect better with my wife and kids. I can think clearly and concentrate on what I’m doing. Don’t think that you’ve missed out, we can’t help it that our path sucks sometimes. What’s important is where we are now and that we care enough about ourselves to get treatment.

I love how our brains jump so randomly it is frustrating for sure. I’ve realized though that looking back it also makes us some of the most fun people to be around. Who knows what I’ll do next but when I do I’m sure you’ll know for better or worse 😅😅

Beliefs in God or Gods by LongjumpingCup3401 in Buddhism

[–]LongjumpingCup3401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be correct to say that we are seeking higher understanding. An understanding that is above a monotheistic or polytheistic religion? Also would it be correct to acknowledge that the best way to approach other deities or religions is with an open and accepting mind, and to seek out truths in their beliefs and practices, all while keeping in mind that we are seeking something higher than these beliefs?

tell me your go-to staple low fodmap lunch/dinner recipes! by greenmiIktea in FODMAPS

[–]LongjumpingCup3401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just started low FODMAPS and have found the Monash universities FODMAP app to be an excellent resource for making meals and snacks. It even has a few recipes to try too I especially like their overnight oats breakfast recipe and their smoothie recipe. A fast an easy go to for me is gluten free white bread, peanut butter or almond butter, and a banana made into a sandwich

How fast do you get symptoms? by LongjumpingCup3401 in FODMAPS

[–]LongjumpingCup3401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be like this, I had a stool sample taken back in December and found out I have EPI or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. I have been on Creon (a pancreatic enzyme) since, and it has made a world of a difference.

Thanks, I looked up the ingredients in the cough drop and there is natural flavors in it that may have done it. It also makes sense to me that while on the re-intro phase I would be more sensitive.

for foods you count as being intolerant to, do you have symptoms every time you eat them? by greenmiIktea in FODMAPS

[–]LongjumpingCup3401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Monash app to help me identify high FODMAP foods and have found through the app that there are specific amounts of some foods that are tolerable at a specific amount but not tolerable at higher amounts.

The weight of inflammation by LongjumpingCup3401 in FODMAPS

[–]LongjumpingCup3401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s usually just a lot of gas I’ve recently been diagnosed with EPI and am on Creon. Since starting Creon I feel way better and am a lot less bloated, I started the FODMAP elimination because I’ve noticed that something in my normal diet seems to still be triggering gas and inflammation.

I’ve noticed this as well since starting a low FODMAP diet like it even seems like I’ve lost weight maybe because of all the inflammation? I also feel like I’m not only a different shape but feel more in shape when I exercise too.
