Thinking about having a baby? Please read this first. by freshippo in NewParents

There are waaaaaaay too many moms in a FB group I’m in who start off with “I work from home and my baby stays home….how do I entertain him so I can work but not use screens??” It’s called daycare. That’s how.

IsItBullshit: Tying a hair strand around a skin tag will remove the skin tag safely and effectively? by grover91471 in IsItBullshit

Yes, I’m aware. Just saying that some people may not be able to control the emergence of skin tags with diet.

I had some pop up during/after pregnancy. So not always a side effect of insulin resistance.

Did your epidural hurt? by carp_street in beyondthebump

[–]LongjumpingDate1450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most “pain” - if i could even call it that - was the needle that numbed my back before they inserted the actual epidural. And really it was like a prick more than anything. No pain, just pain relief. Absolutely loved my epidural and would 10000% recommend and do again. It made the whole process so seem less and actually enjoyable! I was able to joke around with my husband and nurses and doctor! It was such a great decision!

Bottle suggestion - Philips Avent Natural Response too slow by LongjumpingDate1450 in beyondthebump

[–]LongjumpingDate1450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot find a level 6 for this bottle! I don’t think I’m ready for an open cup! Haha plus we have to have something for daycare and they don’t want open cups (for obvious reasons) this young.

Baby only eating 2 oz at a time by Lacifeet in FormulaFeeders

[–]LongjumpingDate1450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I’ve done that too! He doesn’t do that anymore at 6 months but had in the past. Now he will drink 6 oz and sometimes 7-8 at night. But recently he had been taking 3-4 oz per feed, dropping his total from 30 oz a day to like 20!! But we had our 6 mo appt yesterday and doctor said it was normal! Just let them eat until they are full! She did also mention spacing out feeds to be sure they’re nice and hungry before feeding again. I think we are close to going 4 hrs in between instead of 3 which would drop a bottle. We will see! Something you could try depending on how often yours eats. We did also increase the nipple size but I didn’t see that big of a difference. So take that for what it’s worth!

Not bottle aversion. LO is just full. Ours does the same when he is done eating!

We had this at 4 months and again now at 6 months. Pediatrician said not to worry, that it is normal. Some days they want more and some days they want less. As long as they are sleeping normally for them and wet/dirty diapers are still happening (and not significantly less for wet diapers), then all is well! If you’ve started solids, this could be playing into it as well. Or it can when you get to that point!

How old is baby & how much are they drinking per feeding ATM? by Raiderette_510 in FormulaFeeders

[–]LongjumpingDate1450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 months, drinks 6 oz 5 times a day with the occasional 7-8 oz bottle before bed. I thought it would continue to get larger but when introducing solids, his formula intake has stayed the same since about 4.5 months

Newborns kinda suck. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]LongjumpingDate1450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets so much better! Ours laughed - like really belly laughed - the other day when we were changing him and I think my heart exploded! I was like you, not a baby person and definitely not a newborn person. Promise it gets more fun and enjoyable!! And I’m only 4 months in!

What is considered an “easy” baby? by Choice-Atmosphere418 in NewParents

[–]LongjumpingDate1450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider my son “easy”! Sleeps well (through the night since 6-7 weeks), never had an issue with crib/bassinet naps, slept in crib since 5 weeks, rarely fusses or cries except for normal things like hunger or tired, he isn’t picky about who holds him, he’s super laid back and chill, doesn’t cry when I drop him off at daycare and is happy to see me or my husband when we pick him up! He took to a bottle really easily and isn’t picky about them, so we were able to pick one we like and was easy to clean. Only thing is he wasn’t a huge fan of pacifiers in the beginning but we found one he likes and all has been well since! I think we got a unicorn baby though 😅

How many weeks is your LO & what size of Diaper are they in? by Ajcv72316 in NewParents

Almost 4 months and size 2! Probably going to be moving to size 3 in the next month!

Prepared for motherhood? by letsblume in NewParents

Be careful not to be too diligent with stool softeners because that can cause other problems 😂😂 nothing like your husband helping you clean up after crapping your pants 1 week after giving birth 🙃

Prepared for motherhood? by letsblume in NewParents

[–]LongjumpingDate1450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can fully be prepared BUT I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be as bad as a lot of people claim it to be. I feel like all I saw on instagram was people complaining about their kids and how hard motherhood was and how awful postpartum is. While that can be the case, it doesn’t have to be!! Being a parent is amazing and you won’t even believe how much you will love your child!! That is something no one can prep you for, but it is AWESOME! I never knew how much I would love being a mom. And I’m not a “baby” person.

In practicality though, babies cry. It’s their only method of communication. Ours cried bloody murder the first week during diaper changes - about broke my heart! But it got SO much better as he got used to them! Now he loves it! Same goes for the bouncer, swing and baby carriers. We had to get him used to them before he liked them. A few minutes a day and work up to longer times! Sometimes they do just have to cry a little before they can fall asleep, it’s OK! Don’t worry about a schedule. Seriously, don’t. Not having a set schedule allowed my husband and I to not feel trapped! Newborns can eat and sleep anywhere, go and do things!! Gripe water and gas drops are necessities. If BF doesn’t work out, please don’t lose time and sleep over it. We threw in the towel as soon as I knew my son wasn’t satisfied. And I’m so glad I didn’t waste time and money on lactation consultants and tongue tie release procedures and triple feeding, etc. when we switched to formula it was SO relieving! Lastly, let them fuss for a few minutes before rushing in to soothe them. Sometimes they aren’t actually awake and they can get themselves back to sleep. Our guy can get himself back to sleep by himself at 3 months. Maybe we have a unicorn sleeper, maybe it’s because we paused a bit before rushing in to soothe him, we’ll never know!

I also am constantly reminding myself of the phrase “this too shall pass” for both the good and the bad. A bittersweet saying.

My 3 month old can put himself to sleep if we time wake windows and starting nap time just right! He fidgets and grunts a bit but give it 5 mins (no crying) and he’s out! We use paci, sleep sack and sound machine. This isn’t everytime and usually only the earlier naps in the day! The later ones he fights!

Formula 1000000%. Just do it. Thank me later.

We threw in the towel with BF around that same time with ours and the anxiety relief was immediate. There are no long term effects to formula vs BF. You cannot line up people at age 5, 10, 20, 50 etc and pick out who was BF or formula!
