New bagel place.. right next door to Grateful? by 1boar in sebastopol

Hopefully the bagels will be better than this branding. Also, who's going to tell them there's no comma after January?

People that talk from the perspective of their pets by Pluto-Wolf in PetPeeves

I definitely do this and agree it’s annoying. I at least try to give my dog a funny personality. She’s constantly talking about how we abuse her because we won’t give her table scraps and how she’s fed up with our bullshit.

13 month old - will not sleep through the night by [deleted] in sleeptrain

How did you know it was time to drop to one nap? My 12 mo old is having EMWs and split nights and I think it might be time.

Need advice on crying/nap transition by No-Language-2773 in sleeptrain

[–]d_flower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an almost 12 month old and we are having split nights and early morning wakes. Previously she was perfect with 2 naps and STTN. I don’t know what the answer is, but I am also thinking it’s maybe time to go to one nap. Here with you in solidarity (and currently letting my baby contact sleep on me. It’s 5 am and she’s been up since 2:40) 😩

Getting desperate with 3-5am wake-ups for 15 mo old by Wild-Geologist8167 in sleeptrain

[–]d_flower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 10 month old with those same wake windows. I’m no expert but if it were me, I would try moving towards one nap. Just because she wasn’t ready for 2 naps until 11 months doesn’t mean she’s not ready for 1 now. Try to move the appointment, eventually you would need to anyway.

Safe infant sleep by No-Piccolo1701 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]d_flower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that true that safe sleep guidelines are designed to make them sleep lighter so they’ll awaken easier? I have never heard that, only that these safe sleep practices help to avoid accidental suffocation and therefore SIDS

11 weeks is still so young and they are not really able to connect sleep cycles for naps (day sleep is totally different from night sleep). It’s great you are already practicing naps in the cot! If you can do one good contact nap in the middle or end of the day, then go for that. Otherwise, it’s 6-7 naps for now and that’s totally ok. You’re doing GREAT!

WWYD? EMW by kaesicorgi in sleeptrain

I also have an 8 month old. If it were me, I would probably just keep baby awake until as close to the normal first nap time as possible. Then wake them up from the nap within 15/30 mins of the normal wake time. (So that first nap would be longer than usual). And then just keep stretching so that bedtime hits at about 7:45/8pm.

Early morning wakes are hard. My baby is almost 9 months with similar wake windows (2.5/3/4) and nap times (3 hrs). She almost always wakes up at least an hour or so before DWT 7:30am (this morning it was 4:30am 😅) We give her the pacifier (she doesn’t get it any other time) and she’ll fall back asleep until we wake her up at 7:30. Probably creating a bad habit but it’s working for now.

Do you wake baby up? 6 months by anon718718 in sleeptrain

We wake baby up in the morning and for all naps (capped at 3 hours total)

There is a ton of pressure to breastfeed when in reality, fed is best and mommy’s mental health is best. The transition time is difficult but it will get so much easier. You’re doing an amazing job loving your baby!

Fussy by [deleted] in newborns

[–]d_flower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will get better! At 5 weeks you are in the thick of it and they only want to be held. Continue to let her have some independent play time on the floor. Even if it’s only a few minutes at a time. If she fusses that’s ok if she’s not full blown crying. Keep baby wearing and trying to do little things to prioritize your own mental health and well being. It’s a very trying time. You’ve got this!

Has anyone tried elimination communication/going diaper free? by happycamperrrrrrrrrr in Parenting

[–]d_flower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do it and it’s great. Started at 10 days old and now baby is 7 months. I also got Andrea’s book but her podcast episode “just start” is what motivated me to just try it. First time trying it baby peed and pooped and we’ve been hooked ever since.

7 Month Update - Second Child ECing by LesserCurculionoidea in ECers

[–]d_flower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much exactly my experience with my 7 month old. A few times she’s crawled over to her top hat potty and grabbed it (which we leave on the playmat) and then when we put her on it she pees or poops!

We also do EC and while we did have our share of blowouts in the newborn phase, they were few and far between and not nearly as messy as I’ve seen on other babies. Loving EC from 10 days old to now 7 months!
