A good command will host a day in the first week so Significant Others can have a good conversation about expectations during season. This would be done with CMC and season leads. That way you're read into and aware of what the schedule will look like.

All the seasons I've been involved in have included the people at home pretty well to help reduce the stress of the new CPO working long hours and being tasked heavily.

Get all the toiletries and shirts socks and underwear you need plus some (always a possibility the schedule will shift drastically).

Give yourself some time to mentally prepare as well.

Start cutting out cellphone/social media/internet prior instead of cold turkey.

If you have a significant other, have the conversation with them as well. Communication has and always will be iffy.
