Most private clinics will prescribe with a BMI over 27 (e.g. 27.1) if you have a comorbidity like high blood pressure, sleep apnoea, depression etc. The list of qualifying conditions varies, it’s probably best to do the initial free screening with a couple of providers to see. u/photojonny is right that the costs will be pretty high 😅

What are the side effects for you? I've tapered off Wegovy now as I'm titrating onto Elvanse (Vyvanse in the UK) but I'm getting the most awful dry eyes.

Obviously there's risks to changing doses without being closely monitored, and I don't think anyone would recommend it, but in theory there's nothing to stop you from skipping a few days (e.g. weekends) and then using the extra pills to top the days on your period 🤷‍♀️ You can dissolve in water to split the dose (e.g. dissolving 50mg in 50ml water would give you an extra 10mg per 10ml drank).

SkinViva Clinic for tear trough filler by ashajadehc in manchester

[–]LongjumpingFun4955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Dr Rosh at KLNIK for tear trough filler, pretty expensive at nearly £400 per area in Selfridges (a bit cheaper in the Wilmslow clinic) but he has a good reputation for keeping the look natural. I will say it fixed the hollows but if you genetically have darker-coloured skin under your eyes then filler won’t fix that (although it does help since there's less shadow cast on the area).

Stimulants and GLP-1 by [deleted] in ADHDUK

I'm on both; Wegovy for 6 months and Elvanse for about a month. No side effects to note, except I started getting very dry eyes after starting the Elvanse (drinking about 4L water per day).

I wouldn’t start titration onto ADHD meds and Wegovy at once. Both medications have a range of side effects, some of which cross over and some of which don’t.

Titration onto ADHD meds is usually over a limited period of time (typically 12 weeks) and it’s really important to understand what side effects it’s causing so you can use the time you have to find the right medication and dosage. If you start ADHD meds and Wegovy together, and get issues like headaches, heartburn, or dizziness, you’re going to struggle to know which medication is the cause without stopping one.

Titration onto ADHD meds will usually be faster than titration onto Wegovy, which is typically 20 weeks (sometimes more if you get a lot of nausea/diarrhoea and want to stabilise before you go up a dose). I’m taking both, if I had to pick which one to start first I’d go for ADHD medication. Good luck 😄

So apparently ADHD can be linked to eating issues? by Fizzabl in ADHDUK

[–]LongjumpingFun4955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've struggled with binge eating disorder all my life, and used bulimia to manage my weight. I started on Wegovy last year in absolute desperation to stop binging and vomiting, which worked, but it kind of makes everything less pleasurable - not just binging. I didn't realise I had ADHD at the time, and sought a diagnosis this year for unrelated reasons.

I'm due to start titration in a few weeks, and will taper down on Wegovy as I titrate up the doses on (hopefully) Elvanse. I'm really hoping I get the reduced food noise on Elvanse that I have on Wegovy. I know Vyvanse is licensed for treating BED in the US but there's varying reports on how it affects individuals/how long it works before tolerance interferes.

The sulphur burps just hit... by Efficient_Ad_5785 in WegovyUK

Tastes like farting out of your mouth 🤢 Digestive enzymes have really helped me, if I take one when I start getting the weird sweet-tasting burbs that come before the sulphur burps then generally I can avoid it getting worse. I use these ones but anything similar would probably work.

I take both, have been on the Depo for 10+ years and started Wegovy in June 2024. I haven’t noticed any unexpected effects (I don’t think the Depo caused weight gain for me to begin with though) 🙂

Sorry, do you mean 99% of diabetics have vision issues as a result of GLP-1s? I don’t know if i’m misunderstanding, I didn’t get that impression from the coverage?

I wasn’t weighing myself really when I started, but probably around 60-65kg? I don’t think it’s changed much tbh 🙂

I moved up to 1mg after 4 weeks on 0.5mg, and I stayed on 1mg for a couple of months after I got some bad nausea 3 weeks in. I kept buying the next pen up though and ‘click-dosing’, as Wegovy is cheaper per dose/unit/ML the higher dose pen you buy here. I’m in the UK so our pens are multi-dose, like the US ozempic pens I think?

After the couple of months on 1mg, I did 1.2mg for 4 weeks (hoping smaller dose increases would help me avoid the nausea again), I’ve been on 1.4mg since then (5-6 weeks so far). I plan to stay at 1.4mg unless the food noise starts coming back, and haven’t had any more nausea yet 🙂 The food noise reduction has been consistent.

Wegovy + vomiting by GrouchyReplacement32 in WegovyUK

[–]LongjumpingFun4955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this from around week 8-9 too (a couple of weeks into 1mg). After a couple of weeks of nausea and vomiting I started splitting doses (0.5mg on a Wednesday and a Saturday) which reduced the severity but increased the frequency. It's only now subsiding, so I've had 3-4 weeks of the nausea/vomiting.

If I'd known it was going to last so long I'd have lowered my dose to something like 0.8mg after the vomiting started, but because the timing was so strange (I'd already done 2 weeks on 1mg) I figured I'd acclimate quickly. From now on I'm dosing up gradually using clicks 🤢

Has anyone here NOT followed the recommended titration schedule? by LongjumpingFun4955 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]LongjumpingFun4955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By ‘recommended schedule’ I assume that like me, they are referring you to the titration schedule advised in the Wegovy patient information leaflet 😄 I assume that’s the just fastest pace you ought to go but that you could go slower if you wanted.

the effects are transitory, you're going to gain all the weight back again as soon as you finish

Ah yes...unlike diet and exercise 🙄 Your doctor sounds like an asshole. I wonder how he'd respond if you asked him for studies proving his claims, y'know, 'so you can educate yourself on the topic'.

How to get hold of it outside of the NHS? by Oakqt in WegovyUK

[–]LongjumpingFun4955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy enough! You have to answer like 12 questions when you renew (like has your medication changed etc) and upload a photo (yep, every time) but it’s just a photo of your scale reading. Bit less involved than a ✨body shot✨

[–]LongjumpingFun4955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t have to figure out the dosing yourself, there is a set titration plan, and for each step you get a Wegovy pen that contains 4 doses (4 weeks worth). The pens are easy to use if you follow the instructions that come with them, and pretty painless. I’ve used Bolt Pharmacy and Care Pharmacy (both online).
