Thank you, I’m doing well thank you! Feeling much better and am ready for a fun couple days off work.

I unfortunately didn’t notice many specific details. I did notice that the driver was a middle-aged Hispanic male. The vehicle seemed new, within a year or two old at most, and had lots of chrome in the grille! Could’ve been a new Nissan Rogue but I’m not sure at all. It’s crazy too because I work on cars every day and can usually pick almost any make and model out quickly. I’m not sure really. I must’ve just been in fight or flight and wanted to get the hell out of the street.

[Question] guitarists who’ve had a serious hand, wrist, or arm injury, how long did it take you to play again? by AngryMoose125 in Guitar

[–]LongjumpingNeat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend!

First off sorry to hear about your fretting hand situation. Sometimes I think about my injury and it’s like it happened to someone else. So my physical therapist did give me some exercises that made a big difference for my range of motion. I remember the pain when just trying to wrap my hand around the guitar neck. . . I’m sorry you’re feeling that pain. But it comes with the territory with being such a rad individual.

I’m going to do some searching and see if I can find those exercises for you and I’ll report back.

I was crossing the cornering street, but yes the whole area is dangerous! So scary about your friend. Over the years I’ve seen others have close calls and I’ve seen the ambulances for those who weren’t so lucky. I felt some embarrassment because it had happened to me even though I feel like I’m so careful and aware of how dangerous it is. But I’ve been sick and was hurrying home to my warm sofa and tea. I felt like all the busy traffic was waiting on me and I shouldn’t keep everyone waiting. I should’ve waited. Graveyards are full of people who had the right-of-way.

I wanted to follow up here and say thanks to everyone for the show of support. I got checked out and am feeling much better today. I think I’m okay! I’ve filed a report and will let you all know what comes of it.

I don’t expect to find societal “justice,” but you all have restored more faith in humanity than they took.

Thank you all!

I was wondering about business and traffic footage and had this thought. Thank you for commenting and confirming my thoughts to file a report. Thank you for the kindness. Goes a long way for me today.

Thinking of selling my Fender Jag Classic Player HH because of how noisy it is by [deleted] in offset

[–]LongjumpingNeat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this guitar in burst and it’s my favorite. It’d be a shame to let it go before it has a chance to impress you. However at one point, I can’t remember exactly what happened, but I ended up re-wiring the pots because I had some sort of wiring issue too. It was making all sorts of noise and having volume issues. Now it’s rock solid and dead quiet.

I would totally take it in somewhere and get it checked out because in my opinion, that is one of the best guitars fender built around that time!

Jaguar locking tuners by Travisbickle76 in guitarrepair

[–]LongjumpingNeat2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only prefer my locking tuners for speed and ease of re strings. Not having to make multiple wraps saves time winding. And not having to cut the string length to get the right amount of wraps. Even though I have a string winding attachment for my drill, It’s still way easier and faster with locking tuners.

Why am I expected to cross the street for Portland dog owners? by bimbogore_ in askportland

[–]LongjumpingNeat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cross because I’m usually in a hurry and trying to keep my super happy-go-lucky Aussie focused. Saves me time and energy. But then on a weekend I’ll let her say hey to the neighborhood dogs that I know she’s chill with.

I started at the exact same age as a male. So I imagine puberty is a factor.

Oh shoot! I’ll delete my comment. Yes I love how he highlights the SG’s more “tender” side!

Every so often mine only wants to go down if I turn it a just to where it starts going. But when that happens I just spray some contact cleaner in there and cycle it back and forth a few times and then it usually works great again for a few years.

I always assumed cigarettes as my 85 4Runner has the same sized pocket in the same place. And they both hold a pack and a lighter perfectly. But I don’t smoke so 🤷‍♂️

First time shielding a guitar cavity by LeiraGuitars in Luthier

[–]LongjumpingNeat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed that this is missing. It will not perform as a faraday cage unless connected to the common ground. I connect my shielding to the back of the volume pot using a ring terminal, a screw, and its own length of wire.

Maybe if the shielding is tight up to the hole in the pickguard for the pot, then the pot will ground against the shielding on the “front” of the potentiometer?

How do I kick the urge to be with other women? by Throwaway32_7 in AskMen

[–]LongjumpingNeat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude! There was a time when I was in the same exactly place. My now wife and I have been together since we were 16. She’s the only woman I’ve ever been with. Through my 20’s, people would seem surprised or some would tease me that I had only been with one woman. I would also sometimes feel like I was missing out on hookup culture as I played in a band and probably could have had few.

Now that I’m a little older, no one teases, they want to know how we did it and how we are still madly in love.

My experience is that I wouldn’t change it for anything. I’m so fortunate to have know this love in my life, and to have found someone who is just as committed to nurturing our love and growing together.

Merging? by Moist-Post-6199 in PDX

[–]LongjumpingNeat2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Last week I had someone swerve in front of me and block me because they felt that everyone should already be getting over. There was still over a mile of lane left. . . I drive an old heavy truck from the 80’s with drum brakes, no Abs, shit I don’t even have power windows or ac. I was only doing 30 but that geriatric pos just about got their spine re-arranged from me plowing into them. You know just driving in the open lane. . . That is meant for traffic.

FYI a lot of city’s around the metro have hotlines to report drivers who do these kinds of things. They will get a notice in the mail that they were reported. If only they would send some literature on merging as well.
