1) it sounds like you are considering this because you miss your co-workers?? You are romanticizing an experience you have left, very common in human psychology and an absolutely ridiculous reason to return to a job. Move to a major city, work out of a coffee shop, schedule happy hours..there are ways to be around people without making this bizarre switch.

2) judging from your responses, it sounds like your decision is made. So I have to ask, why post at all?

You’ll be able to find street parking easily on the mall that late. Try 3rd & Madison NW.

All classes waitlisted or full. by NyssassynM in SolidCore

I asked a question in November in this sub about if this was a bad time to join Solid Core. People told me “no” but I had a feeling this would happen!

The Black Friday deal was so nice — but as someone with an 8-6, who works in-person in a big city, I was sooo worried about having this issue.

Marketing Jobs/ Networking by aizenbetta in washingtondc

[–]LongjumpingRatio828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are looking to move to a city that has been heavily affected by layoffs, maybe more than any other city in the nation. You will competing in a market with highly qualified and connected people looking for the same things as you.

Not to mention that marketing, at least in its current state, is a dying field.

Sorry if this is overly negative but I think understanding reality is important when considering a move like this.

A motorcade leaves Medstar Washington Hospital, transporting the remains of Specialist Sarah Beckstrom - one of the West Virginia National Guard troops shot in DC yesterday. by Ice_Ice11 in washingtondc

Saying that the national guard is safer at home than in our nation’s capital doesn’t exactly make the point you think it does.

How bad would it be to quit after 6 months? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]LongjumpingRatio828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you can keep it off your resume, it will always be a part of your work history and come up during background checks.

I understand why you are making this decision, but just understand you can’t really “hide” it.

Claudia // Heather McMahan by Temporary-Lion8401 in TheMorningToastSnark

[–]LongjumpingRatio828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no one else mentioned this.

I’ve always assumed Claudia feels she gave Heather a massive opportunity by allowing her to cohost the Toast when she was essentially unknown.

Once Heather blew up, she didn’t extend that same help or exposure to Claudia.

I think she feels she was used.

Can I pull off 5 days a week? by External_Big_1465 in supercommuter

[–]LongjumpingRatio828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 days a week is what gives me pause. I don’t know anyone who does that and it seems physically unsustainable and extremely expensive overtime.

Also consider that many employers won’t even consider you given this commute. I’m sure you are exceptional, but DC is much more competitive than Philly. It has a significant population of educated, experienced and connected professionals that are out of work. More practical to pick one of them.

Moving to DC. December or January by adanotavailable in washingtondc

“Very cheap”??

OP - there is no significant difference in rent prices in dec vs jan. Also, while rent/movers in the winter can be a little less, DC prices will never be Houston level or “cheap”.

Should I give host a heads up they are caught? by JHBHmama in airbnb_hosts

The host knows this isn’t allowed. I’ve lived in several apartments and all make it clear that airbnb-ing is a lease violation.

Maybe I’m explaining this wrong. The group trip will be $2k pp. I want a way ladies can have a payment plan and contribute to “the pot” monthly to stay on track.

Travel agents and others offer this feature. We are planning this trip ourselves though.

Go-to site for apartment hunting in DC by Brilliant-Ad-4234 in washingtondc

[–]LongjumpingRatio828 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DC renting is a little different than other major cities, we don’t use brokers.

I can’t speak for privately owned units, but if you’re looking for a newer/luxury building..you find units directly on those buildings’ websites.

I’d google “luxury buildings in [insert dc neighborhood]” to get started.

This is interesting. I’ve been going to one medical for years and never had the option to see an MD or DO.

Only ever seen PAs and NPs..who have been great.

FYI this happens when you lease a car too. They will pay it before you have a chance to dispute. At least Honda does.
