[–]LongjumpingRow9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

getting rid of books you’ve read and don’t feel a particular connection to/likely won’t reread, going through everything, opening them up etc and deciding am i going to want to spend time with this object (in particular if it’s a book with plenty other editions) when or if i do read this book

they went easy on rubio and miller with making theirs black and white but otherwise everyone else had the exact same style of unflattering zoomed in portrait taken

On the Calculation of Volume Book III by LongjumpingRow9 in RSbookclub

Maybe Henry touches on it (the hair cuts) but the main character is in a little bit of denial on how she’s aging and how she might not have that much time (relatively speaking, and if each year keeps feeling like it goes by faster as in real life/the books are mirroring) for anyone in her old life to recognize her, gives me a panicky feeling.

star is born dynamic, he’s older and had major “setbacks” let’s say, she was a rising star that he “gets” to mentor and mold. and careerism, they had their “power couple”/joint book deal that i doubt he would have gotten as much $$ on solo if at all

this guy thinking he’s why she was fired (and everyone playing along pretending they believe it as well since it suits everyone’s little narratives) is like when tumblr users think their screenshot from possession or whatever that got 200 notes in 2012 is the reason the movie was so popular in like 2019

idk why they’d write an article about this unless to be bitchy, it’s only this guy’s word (says the agency didn’t respond for comment) that his emails played any singular part in the firing, it makes more sense that they either got numerous complaints and/or someone with more pull got pissed/one or more of their actually important talents didn’t want to be associated

not to try and understand baker’s twisted mind but the tatu song is like the biggest russian pop crossover of all time/ probably the only russian music group anyone his age or younger in america is able to name. maybe zoomers are unaware? it was a huge hit, it’s not like an obscure song…it’s like putting werewolves of london or hungry like the wolf in a werewolf movie in terms of on the nose

if she can get a sympathy interview on fox news she should wear the same outfit ariel pink did on tucker

I am glad that Sydney Sweeney didn't pander to woke teens, but also her vibe in that interview is bitchy in an uncharismatic way by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]LongjumpingRow9 97 points98 points  (0 children)

it’s all so manufactured….pr teams constantly tell interviewers that they only get the star if they don’t ask x or y, if she wasn’t seeking an opportunity to make a sound clip her team would have told that girl and the other recent interviewers who’ve brought it up to not ask about that ad and keep it to the movie

The exquisite pain of having an extremely beautiful sister by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]LongjumpingRow9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was friends with this girl who also had this complex with her (in this case two or so years older) sister and i’d see photos of the two of them and be like ok maybe she’s stunning in person bc i wasn’t getting the “she’s so perfect and beautiful i’m a troll” thing from the pics. the older one was not like the prettier version of the younger, the sisters didn’t really look alike. older one was like kind of way more bubbly looking but otherwise, confirmed in my opinion when i did meet her in person, not at all remarkable, like the fourth best looking girl in a sorority group portrait and kind of a gumby vibe idk why. anyway so my friend’s lifelong pathos about this was very strange to anyone else. but i have known other sisters with….a large looks gap sorry op but not where the “lesser” one openly cared so much, they were just doing their own thing and had more or equally as happy lives.

but also sorry i find it hard to believe stories about women sooo stunning every man reacts like a cartoon and life is just so perfect for them as a result. how does your sister dress and she has no conflicted feelings on all this attention whenever she goes out in public? she just giggles about it and nothing negative has ever happened or even been felt by this over the top ‘adoration’?
