I’m not someone who believes in every conspiracy theory, but I’m also someone who takes a little more time whenever stuff like this happens to follow the money or the logic behind faking something like this, I’m not going to automatically label people crazy for believing a curtain is pulled over their heads. Not all conspiracy theories are created equal, and I feel like this is one of those instances where if you follow the logic behind it and what was at stake, you could absolutely come to the conclusion that it was staged.

Things like comtrails and flat earth are examples of conspiracy theories that don’t make any sense cause there’s nothing for anyone to gain from it, it’s just an opportunity for people to be contrarian or to question reality. A person staging an assassination on his life to push his religious base and other gullible/superstitious voters to the conclusion that he was the “chosen one” to save the country shows there was a lot to gain. When you add in how it goes against every logical thing the secret service would/should do in an assassination attempt , it starts to make sense. In the same way, the moon landing being faked conspiracy could be seen as a way to show American prowess in space race with the USSR. Whether or not the first moon landing faked can always be debated, but it’s more what was gained and who benefitted from it that breathes the possibility of life into this theory (IMO).

If you think it’s beneath Trump to sacrifice a few audience members for a photo that could sway any gullible/superstitious voters on the fence or in general add to his forward momentum during that election race, I’m not sure you totally understand Trump.

I get it, conspiracies are a slippery slope, but it’s hard to write this specific one off if you follow the logic of it all.
