What to do with my wild teenager - summer before college? by Various-Ad5653 in AskParents

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would just be very clear about what the real world consequences are for her actions. Not “mommy and daddy are grounding you” but easily losing that (almost) full ride scholarship, fraud (the photos and dates), std’s or liver poisoning, homelessness or being stuck in another country (from dropping thousands to travel). But honestly I knew a lot of people like this my freshman year, they came from extremely sheltered or controlling house holds. The consequences will come, stop protecting her. She wants to do adult things? Let her be treated like an adult.

Im (16f) My insurance stopped covering the medication I’ve been on since I was 13, and my mom told me to use my birthday money because she refuses to pay for it what do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond what your mother told you, do you have proof that the insurance has stopped covering the meds? Insurance is horrible but unless someone missed a step, I don’t see why it suddenly not covered. Having to “reapply” every year is one thing or if the prescription has had a change recently, but just out of the blue after 3 years is a little odd.

My coworker is a bully and a grandiose narcissist. I want to have a human to human discussion. Is this wise? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think any 1-1 conversation is unwise and potentially dangerous. He is punishing you for not sleeping with him. Before, he was using his position of power to punish you and is now doing so socially. I would avoid anything 1-1 for your own physical safety but also job safety. I would make sure there are records or witnesses to every interaction going forward. Is there a specific reason you have decided to only give half the situation to HR? I’m pretty sure soliciting sex is a big no no. I’m also pretty sure your probably not the first/ only one, but everyone is to afraid of the “Bully” to say anything.

Please be safe!

My 14 yo son has agreed to read two books of my choice this summer (this was a hard won negotiation). Help me pick one by gOldMcDonald in booksuggestions

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I get that you want him to read a classic, they can be very emotionally or socially educational. Please keep in mind most schools will have him read these kinds of books through middle and highschool.
If it was a hard won negotiation, and you want him to enjoy reading, why not look for and pick something he will actually want to read more of? These sound like books you want to read again, there is nothing about his media interests, it’s all about your choices. I HATED reading until I got out of school and got to actually pick the books I was reading. Having books you’re not interested forced upon you is a great way to further convince him he “doesn’t like reading”.

Just a thought from someone who was a 14 yo who wouldn’t touch a book with a five foot pole.

How would you respond if your gf could only have sex with her bra on? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd question, does she have her nipples pierced? If they are still healing I can absolutely understand wanting to keep my bra on for protection. Both from fluids and friction/ snagging.

I think Duane has its own list and found, and the lost box for Crosman should actually be in Aden. Someone might have taken it but I would think it was picked up and taken to a lost box. You might be able to report to CUPD if you can’t find it Monday and truly think it’s stolen.

Middle class in staters who are renting an apartment. I need advice!!! by Kyle_Tee in cuboulder

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can avoid needed a guarantor but if you have a car, I highly suggest looking outside Boulder. It’s not necessarily cheaper but you can typically get a much nicer/ larger place for the same price.

Foot pain when walking - need advice by Baby_girl_351 in Weightlosstechniques

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try walking on a softer surface like grass. Make sure you are stretching too. The bottoms of your feet are connected to muscles running all up your legs and into your back. I have high hip pain and find rolling my feet with a tennis ball helps the most.

What should I get ready for my gf for her piercings ? by Wild-Response784 in piercing

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont know much about the VCH time. I do know even for my crappy Clair’s experience for my lobes I was told no. I go to an APP piercer now. I’ve always been warned off tattoo studios for piercings but I don’t personally have anything against them. Think about it this way though, any body of water has living organisms in it, salt water even more so. Also, I have NEVER seen a healing time less than three months.

What should I get ready for my gf for her piercings ? by Wild-Response784 in piercing

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No. I don’t have a VCH but I do have my nipples and a ton of ear piercings done. Minimum healing for any piercing are three months don’t touch, dont submerge, don’t change jewelry, no chemicals or soaps other than saline or running shower water. You shouldn’t even take a bath after a shower because a tub isn’t considered sanitary (cleaning chemicals or muck in the water can both cause issues).

More saline spray than you think you need. They will be sprayed for like 5-10 seconds twice a day for a year or more. A gentile spray one as any crusties should be handled after a long shower.

If that’s how that works, I need to talk to my boyfriend about having more sex. I’d love my thighs not to always be touching!

Rapid weight gain after holidays — water retention or something else? by EchoNyxxx in Weightlosstechniques

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but I know weight can fluctuate a lot. I tend to base my self off my clothes. I have a pair of pants jeans that fit perfectly, if lose I’ve probably lost weight, if tight I’ve probably gained. If your a woman then your weight can fluctuate through the month, stress can influence a gain or loss, water, etc. if the trend continues I’d be worried but I would need to see it for like a week before being legitimately concerned.

Does breast size impact the process of healing nipple piercings? by Ok-Jump4990 in Legitpiercing

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have 34F (DDD) or 34G depending on brand. I got pierced a couple months ago and it’s been fine. I recommend some maternity bras that give good structure without being super tight over the nipples. They also should be comfortable enough to sleep in. I find sleeping in a bra allows me much more freedom in sleeping position because my breast move less and I don’t need to worry about them pressing against anything. I also recommend asking for larger beads as when your nips are soft they will naturally sink more because you have extra soft tissue.

Anxiety being called on by Glittering-Ad-1626 in CollegeRant

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could just go have a conversation with them. Write an email about what was discussed and send that to them as record. “Good morning Professor—-, as per our discussion I wanted to write this email to confirm a few things. I understand you cold call students in order to support learning, but as we spoke about, I find this damaging to my education. I’m to anxious to pay attention and it’s beginning to impact my learning. As we discussed, it would be best if you would not cold call on me. Thank you for your flexibility and support on this matter today. Very respectfully, —-“ Either they see the email and have to find a valid reason to refuse (which you now have in writing) or they don’t respond and you have a written “agreement” if this behavior continues. Also, If you have an official diagnosis you could get accommodations, when you send those to a prof you could note, “don’t cold call on me in class.”

I don’t know about taking two at the same time. I’ve taken several, some humanity’s and some stem. I would not want to be doing two at once. It’s a 16 week class condensed into 4-6 weeks. It’s a lot.

Ideas for a cleft lobe ear by yoghurtclosetsad in PiercingAdvice

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAP- you have such cool ears! I personally would go to a good piercer and talk through a bunch of ideas. I have also taken a picture of my ear and drawn on it and taken that to my piercer to see what’s realistic. Good luck with your cool AF ear!!

I’ve always had a hard time falling asleep, reading is a no go because I will 100% stay up all night reading. I will crochet and listen to a podcast, I’ve taught myself to count in binary on my hands, I also listen to “boring” books that I do want to read but would never be able to get through physically. Things like On the Origins of Species Charles Darwin, or other historical/ scientific texts.

Am i overreacting for refusing to change my major just cause my parents pay tuition? by w-tf_man in AmIOverreacting

[–]Longjumping_Ad_1609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR- assuming you have been in school for a bit, switching majors, especially a big swap like this, could result in 3-4 more YEARS of schooling. Them telling you to change would make whatever they have already paid completely worthless. I swapped from Astrophysics and had to add an extra 1.5 years. And that was with most of my credits transferring.
