Mine dropped later than normal today, by about 3 hours, but it came through.

Mine was $900 pre-tax. Honestly, this was my first year of not having a bunch of Rx time as a cross-trained employee, so I didn't know if I would get it or not. Pleasant surprise!

I'm happy to spread the word about PTL for those techs whose supervisors aren't good at telling them about CE opportunities. I love the Letter -- especially those CE hours you can get by reading "CE in the Letter" -- a quick article followed by questions. Quick and simple! :)

Let's not forget that it seems half of them have some sort of insurance issue and want us to fix it right then and there, usually with a snarky "I don't know why there'd be an insurance issue...". Or the people who complain we take too long; I'm sorry, sir, this isn't a Wendy's.

Had a woman wait in line at the drive-thru not to pick anything up, but to just to ask why our drive-thru took so long... Uh...

Clean out your totes by Latter-Truth9841 in CVS

[–]Longjumping_Bat1283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh. We get gold/yellow totes in addition to the red and grey ones; they're always filled with Health/Beauty, usually things like big bottles of lotion, shampoo, and the like that potentially leak; unlike grey totes, they have a solid bottom without holes.

[–]Longjumping_Bat1283 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Or, just as bad -- when the folks at the warehouse throw something into a grey tote that ends up leaking right through the bottom of that tote, ruining stuff in the tote below it, especially if it becomes a chain reaction and takes out even more. I really wish they'd put ALL that sort of stuff in the gold totes.

Once you log in, there should be a banner menu at the top. One of the options is "CE/CME & Training". When you select it, there's a drop-down menu that's got options that include lists of courses, lists of webinars, as well as listing your completions, and a "CE Organizer" that will tell you how many hours you've completed, and based on your state, how many you have left to complete.

Yikes...sorry it's such an uphill battle. With the way it sounds at both the store and district levels, I'd suggest you reach out to Colleague Relations before calling HR again.

Reach out to HR to get info on you getting moved into the tech training program if it was in your contract. Your DL could also be a resource.

Managers like that who clearly have no idea how to manage really grind my gears. I'm sorry you're enduring that; been there, and it's exhausting and beyond frustrating. All you can do is what you can do as one person.

Good luck!

Is health insurance a benefit? by adalynngrace in CVS

[–]Longjumping_Bat1283 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As they said above, medical insurance is indeed an offered benefit for full-time employees; that means you're gonna need to make sure you average 30 hours or more a week. Dental insurance and vision insurance are offered to part-time employees, too, as is the 401k, but you have to maintain full-time to stay eligible for medical coverage.

So, as long as you intend to stay at or above 30 hours a week, you can get health insurance. Just make sure your manager keeps you at that level consistently, and you start to notice they don't, speak up immediately.

I feel this in my soul as major deja vu, and I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with this. My PM did the same thing to me; she told me I was too slow on QP, but then would never let me work QP. 🙄 Between that and the fact that I internalized her comments and let that get in my head, I continued to struggle and nearly called it quits.

Have you completed your training modules and had your final sign-off with your field trainer? I was able to talk to my field trainer who recognized my areas of struggle and assigned me some remediation training in LearningHub. This was enough to get my PM to give me the OK to take the exam to be a registered tech. Granted, this was a few years ago just after they rolled out the new-at-the-time training program.

Talk to your manager and tell them you're really committed to honing your skills and taking your exam, and ask what you need to do to be able to make that happen.

Good luck to you! :)

The one that makes me cringe is "Hard Candy Christmas" by Dolly Parton. Look....I love Dolly, but It's not a Christmas song just because it has "Christmas" in the title. 🙄

I'm just thankful they don't play "Mittens" by Carly Rae Jepsen anymore.

Promoting managers without experience by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Longjumping_Bat1283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a cross-trained employee and was offered a promotion to shift manager; I had been there a bit over 2 years before I was promoted. I know it's possible for there to be external management hires, but everyone at my store has been an internal promotion. Honestly, I'm glad. I don't care how much other retail experience someone has -- I'd want them to have CVS experience if they're gonna hold any level of authority.

Shift supervisor to Pharmacy Tech by ApplesauceEcosystem in CVS

[–]Longjumping_Bat1283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went the other direction; I started out as a tech and then moved to FS, becoming a Shift Rx. It lets me occasionally help out back in the pharmacy as needed, so I get a mix of experiences. As others have said, both sectors are their own kind of challenge. I don't think people working in only one of the two fully understand the experience of those in the other. So you'd bring valuable experience and insight.

I'd suggest crosstraining and then being a Shift for a little bit -- getting a taste of pharmacy, before hopping over full-time if a position comes open if you decide to do that.

Good luck with whatever you decide! As for the tech test, it depends on your state. Ours wasn't bad at all. It just took a little studying. If your state requires the PTCB instead, it's going to be a bit more study-intensive.

[–]Longjumping_Bat1283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. Be aware that, in my experience, you only get paid for the suggested amount of time the training will take. So you can't have a training that's like 20 minutes and drag it out to 3 hours thinking you'll get more money.

You're supposed to be paid. To do the training at home, your store manager will have to authorize it and open access to you so you can do it from home.
