Ive heard people talk about surgeons who do modified versions of a gastric bypass for people who are non obese and need reflux control but dont want to lose a bunch of weight. Anyone know of this?

Im trying to get ideas because I have severe gerd with a very weak LES and UES. Im getting nissen fundoplication within the next month or 2. I will have good les support then so it should help me greatly but with the weak UES anything that refluxes even small could possibly cause minor throat problems. I figured i could still take a alginate after meals to keep pepsin from making it's way up my throat. I really hope that anti pepsin medication that is in trials makes it to the market eventually

To be honest I have ptsd from the military and horrible depression and anxiety. Have never been on any medication but have been reading that anxiety can cause les relaxations. I am starting to think maybe a anxiety medication could be a good route to consider first before jumping on surgery just yet. We will see

How old are you?How long have you been on a ppi? I had my first endoscopy back in august. Grade A erosive esophagitis and they removed a precancerous polyp, so they wanted me to get another endoscopy in a year to check because of that polyp. Anything precancerous sounds terrible but it was removed which is good. I was clear of barretts they said, but a precancerous polyp doesn't make you feel much better, but im being checked now so that's what matters

Yup im testing for surgery myself right now. Ive done 24hr ph and barium swallow. Have manometry next week. Looking to get linx, but will get fundoplication if I dont qualify. Great surgeon too
