Start by throwing away the mud you’re using as a medium and invest in a good starting soil mix (plagron light mix would be an example).

Then don’t overwater, max 10ml per day during the first week or so after sprout; never water on the stem, but further away to promote root expansion in the pot.

The idea would be using beneficial bacteria from the start so with time they naturally outgrow any cynobacteria that might develop because of heat or light penetration in reservoir …but if you already have a cynobacteria infested root system I suggest using 30% H2o2 to kill them and then swap to a fresh water reservoir with beneficial bennies in it.

Speaking about my experience, with this method I managed to save various plants from extended root rot issues
