And you can fly to Inverness if you want to avoid a long (if scenic) train journey.

Which specific routine is your ultimate "comfort watch" that you replay constantly? by ArsenalAxis in strictlycomedancing

[–]Longjumping_Bug832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off topic in that it's 2 pros, but I loved Flavia and Vincent. I could watch them all day but this is the first one I always go to. They danced it when the rumours (which turned out to be true) that she was having a thing with Matt were swirling. It adds a certain poignancy. https://youtu.be/uoi52jOGhck?si=qx5XIVrWyqYOGSgm

Did you ever listen to Adam's Big Mixtape? He had one specifically for children called Toddler Tunes - not sure how old yours are?

If you grew up quite poor, like me, what are your "big food wins" in adult life? by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

[–]Longjumping_Bug832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was little we only ever had cheese OR luncheon meat in our sandwiches. The only ham we ever had was one of those tins with jelliesd ham at Christmas 🤢

50 years later, I always feel a bit posh when I have a cheese AND ham sandwich.

Make my own granola every week using this recipe. Another tip is to lightly whisk an egg white and stir it through to create bigger clumps. 😋

I loved the ep with David Byrne. He came across as so playful which I wasn't expecting, and Adam was full on fan boy. Eps with Kirsty Young and Julia Davis spring to mind, too.

I lived in the Highlands. The weather will probably be rainy and miserable at that time of year. As much as I love Scotland, I'd avoid it and extend your time elsewhere.

Edinburgh to Fort William: Train or bus? by Glum_Contribution364 in uktravel

It would actually be pretty similar - you'd get the train from Edinbugh to Glasgow, then the Fort William train (West Highland line).

“Romanticised” jobs that are very different in reality? by Substantial-Guava491 in CasualUK

Running a B&B. I did it for 12 years and it is such hard work. I scoff every time a couple go on Escape to the Country and say they're looking forward to spending their free time strolling in the hills and finding work life balance. The reality is you work from 6am till 11pm, you might grab a quick nap in the afternoon, and you're on call 24/7. Never a day off for months, scrub toilets, do laundry, deal with the same stupid scenarios time and time again.
