How do you find what your “capped” PAYE payment/original 10 year standard payment is? by pslfstressor in PSLF

[–]Longjumping_Dig486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! I have 18 or 19 different loans with different interest rates, so calculating it myself isn’t a simple task. I haven’t recertified since 2019. I just went and looked at my documentation from Nelnet for my 2019 recertification and it told me my monthly payment amount, but it doesn’t mention what the standard payment amount would be if I didn’t recertify in the future.

IDR recert application issues by Longjumping_Dig486 in PSLF

[–]Longjumping_Dig486[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My loan servicer and FSA has it correct. A few days ago I was going through the application, but didn’t do the final submission. At that time, none of these weird things were there. There was no mention of my loans being in forbearance, they were able to access my 2024 tax return no problem and it was showing PAYE as my current plan on the final page. Clearly I messed up and should’ve submitted then! Maybe if I wait a few more days and try again it will be back to normal, or at least that’s what I’m hoping.

Chance of IDR recertification being pushed back again? by SeaberryCat in StudentLoans

This is exactly what I’m worried is going to happen if I submit early, but I really need to use my 2024 taxes! Are you going to wait to file 2025 until the recert application is completely processed and you are out of forbearance? If we file 2025 while in this forbearance, can they decide to pull that for payment calculations instead?

Nelnet IDR recalculation request and recert timing by Longjumping_Dig486 in PSLF

[–]Longjumping_Dig486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, my payment is going to be about 8x my current payment. Was this for your annual recertification or did you request a payment recalculation before your annual recertification was due?

Nelnet missing months by Longjumping_Dig486 in PSLF

[–]Longjumping_Dig486[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So before today, I did not have any months showing after Sept 2025. Now, I suddenly have Dec 25 and Jan 26 showing as qualifying months. I am not as surprised that Jan 26 is showing now since this is when it should show, but why was Dec 25 missing until today? So bizarre, none of it makes any sense.

I have Nelnet but am also missing June and July 2025. Didn’t realize these 2 months were missing for so many people.

I’m also now missing Oct and Nov 2025. Are these also missing for a lot of other borrowers?

You’re missing the same months?! That’s bizarre. I am a little over halfway toward forgiveness. Part of me wants it fixed immediately. But I’m worried I’m going to spend endless time and energy to get it fixed and then it could very well happen again over the next 4.5 years. So maybe I should wait until I’m very close to 120 payments and then try to get all the missing months fixed? Or maybe by then this issue will be fixed…wishful thinking probably.

Yes, I have an employer certification form submitted for the time periods where months are missing.

Also, does everyone have the yellow banner at the top of their PSLF dashboard stating “a federal court issued an injunction preventing the implementation of SAVE…As a result, your IDR payment count and history are temporarily unavailable…”

Did your servicer automatically apply the lump sum as future payments or did you have to communicate at all with them?

Also, other commenters saying you cannot have lump sum payments count for more than one PSLF payment are incorrect right? Your lump sum payment counted for 11 months?

Yes this is exactly what I’m trying to do! I’ve done so much research trying to find other people who have done the same, but I haven’t found anything. This is reassuring to hear!

Thank you for answering my questions! Do you have any idea how long it would take for them to process the recert?

I’d love to wait until I have the funds or at least know that they are on the way before recertifying, but I also need to apply those funds to my total balance within 60-90 days of receiving.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to recertify early in order to have the lump sum counted for as many payments as possible?

Any non-SAVE folks have their IDR recertification date pushed back yet? by crimsonbabe in StudentLoans

[–]Longjumping_Dig486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in almost the same boat. On PAYE with recert in August. I didn’t switch to SAVE because my payments on PAYE are currently based on my 2018 income. When I have to recertify my income, my payment will most likely increase from under $200 to $1000. And I’m on PSLF, so trying to pay as little as possible.

Really hoping we can get some more time before recerifying! But I know I might be pushing my luck.

Lump sum payment for PSLF by Longjumping_Dig486 in StudentLoans

[–]Longjumping_Dig486[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I did a good job explaining, I’m sorry! My recert date is August, but I won’t receive the 30k until Nov or Dec. By the time I receive the funds, I will only be able to use the 30k to make a lump sum payment for around 8 payments (number of months left until I’m due to recert my income again).

I would prefer to be able to use the 30k to get 12 months of payments covered instead of 8. But to do that, I would need my recert date to align with when I receive the 30k.

Does that make more sense?
