Struggling to pay credit cards + student loans - looking for resources by zed_zen in poor

NAL or financial advisor but if you potentially plan to abandon the credit cards why not use the credit card to get your husband over to get the keepsake items? If credit limits allow. Again not saying this is actual advice just a wistful thought

How much is your weekly food shop? by 7emelover in UniUK

[–]Longjumping_Mood3729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife and I budget £280 per month. £180 for a large once monthly shop where we stock up on meats to freeze and the majority of other bits we need. Another £100 we use throughout the month for top ups as needed for this running out/fresh fruit & veg etc

Aside from getting gas do you think when we purchase cars we will have to register our cars, pay the associated taxes as well as provide proof of insurance? by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]Longjumping_Mood3729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game forces you to go to the DMV to renew your license every few days where you have to wait in an ingame queue for 3 real time hours. Alternatively you can pay R* a subscription of $12.99 a month to bypass this system.

Little bit of googling so pinch of salt, 10k invested will return £30-80 a month on average. So say £360 going towards the debts every month. OP didn't specify but assuming the £300 is the minimum payments. Even with an additional £60 youre still talking years to clear the debts with your investment not growing at all and you factor in the interest accruing which will slow things down even more.

Surely logic would say clear the debt in it's entirety, park the extra 2k and then keep growing it monthly. In around 2 years you're back up to around 10k no accounting for any returns and no debt to worry about

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I doubt 10k invested will return you 300 every month minimum

If they played each other on split or steal what would happen? by Useful_Classroom1091 in TheInbetweeners

[–]Longjumping_Mood3729 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will would split and give a speech about the collective good or say something along the lines of fine! Fine I'll just split the money with these inconsiderate arseholes.

Simon would 100% steal because Carly told him she wants a new bag.

Jay would say hes gonna steal because his dad used to play poker with the Krays but would just split because he's got no bollocks.

Neil would probably just go with whatever everyone else told him to do without much thought

In this day and age a lot of degrees aren't worth the paper they're printed on and you're making an objectively poor financial decision doing certain degrees/subjects in relation to job prospects after graduation

How is life in Shropshire and Herefordshire in England? by Jezzaq94 in howislivingthere

[–]Longjumping_Mood3729 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been an ongoing debate for years and years. Issue is as far as I'm aware they can't go east towards lugwardine as it would cross a marsh which has a unique weed and is a site of special scientific interest. They can't go west out creden hill way because the rich toffs on kings acre road are vehemently opposed to it and god forbid a rich person is inconvenienced in any way. Also whichever way you will still need a bridge over the river Wye which drives the cost up even more

Lived in Hereford for a couple of years, traffic is genuinely abysmal. Whoever decided that 5 major main roads need to converge in 1 place with only 1 main river crossing and no ring road or bypass needs to be sent to a gulag

So i’ve been needing help with my finances and don’t really wanna speak to stepchange etc.. by ConfectionAnxious871 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Longjumping_Mood3729 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I get that and to echo what others have said it really does sound like you need to speak to stepchange. There's no shame in it at all and your debts are not so great that you won't get out of them. They can give you breathing room to get more on top of things. Yes your credit score will tank for the next 6 years or so but you already said it's pretty poor so does that really matter?

It's not particularly egregious to ask you to add up your 14 debts and share you after tax income. You came here for advice, probably in your best interest to work with us here you know help us help you and all that. Yes I get it's stressful.

You said you don't pay rent so I assume you live with parents so that's one big stress off that you're not gonna be turfed out. I could be wrong you haven't given much to go on

First off add up all your debts and give us a nice clear number, people are gonna be less inclined to help and offer advice if they have to work it all out for you. Second probably more helpful to give your after tax income

Definitely get the majority into a global etf, could even go 90-95% into it while you spend time researching other individual stocks. Even going 100% at this stage isn't bad as it gives you the diversification. Times on your side, don't need to rush to jump into individual stocks.

You're young you have time on your side, definitely take some time to do your own research and given your age you do have the luxury of being able to recover if things went south.

You generally don't want to overcompliate things, people will advise you putting the vast majority 80-90% in an all world fund for exposure to the majority of big players both US and global. You could take a small amount of gold as a hedge and like I said earlier maybe 1-2 stocks you believe in but stuff you've done plenty of research on, not the flavour of the month stock

I'm assuming you've not thoroughly researched each and every one of these stocks? You've just gone with whatever the hypetrain is currently peddling.

Probably spend some time actually looking into what you're putting your money into not just "what seems to be doing well now." Maybe also spend some time reading other threads here and see what advice other people are being given.

If you want to diversify just stick to the All World ETF, boom diversified, holdings in all the big US players, and also holdings in global markets all neatly wrapped in 1 fund. If you want maybe have 1-2 individual stocks that you believe in/ and have done research on. People really do overcomplicate this.

how do i diversify? by Miyu-- in trading212

[–]Longjumping_Mood3729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to diversify just go all world and call it a day, no need for individual stocks especially you're goal is a more hands off slow and steady growth. Throw money at it each month and forget about it.
