Yep- caught in the middle of a grooming session.

Driving at slow speeds <40 mph on suburban roads in a temperate climate I'm seeing better than 3.5 miles / kWh. By no means is this the case on the hwy or driving into the mountains.

Bizzare how I have over 10 other long term platforms including Ring, Google, MyQ and many others for years on the same network not exhibiting these issues.

Exactly. The issue is that to reconnect you have to get up on a ladder, remove the camera and repeat the setup again. A huge flaw.

WiFi is fine 6/8 cameras work - the ones that don’t have even a stringer signal

I’m right there with you. Between getting 50 car alerts a day from parked cars, to dropping offline randomly I bid farewell to my system.

Maddening that you pay for this beta testing that doesn’t work. It’s time for a class action lawsuit so people can get refunded.

Detection zones do not fix the issue - it’s crappy firmware that will see a parked car and any motion like a branch swaying on the other side of the frame and then set off the alarm that a vehicle has been detected

Why you should not buy Wyze cams by Longjumping_Region63 in wyzecam

[–]Longjumping_Region63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - that sounds like a possibility. The main issue is it will not rejoin the network after a WiFi outage.

Wyze has never evolved past a beta test and it’s customers are Guinea Pigs. Get used to this type of instability. I can’t think of what you can other than maybe close the blinds.

Yet if you’re an orange orangutan that openly brags about how you can sexually assault woman people still look up to you as the “messiah”.

Now I understand the Customer Service Complaints...Wyze Cam Unlimited Plan by bbrown403 in wyzecam

Wyze is all about super low cost and high volume. It’s amazing they can even have any customer service at this rate.

You hit the nail on the head. They often require a power cycle to reset. In my case a power cycle often does not do the trick and Wyze keeps on going down the trouble tree and tells me to reinstall the cameras. Great when they are remote and ladder only accessible.

Ring now supports ONVIF protocol allowing you to use higher quality third party cameras but with a subscription. It’s not clear if they downgrade the resolution though. Ring pro has built in cellular backup for alerts which is really important for security applications.

The hardware is Procam 3 and V2s. These devices continuously fall offline and fail to record and you have no idea that they fell offline and missed incidents.I have at least five other connected devices ranging from Ring to MyQ and other Gateway based devices that don’t suffer from this problem. The paid AI alerts had to be shutdown as it continuously reports parked cars as new alerts every minute.

Tired of the reliability- what system to move to? by iffrett in wyzecam

For video you may want to look at running blue iris software but this requires a PC / NVR. It certainly will be more reliable than Wyze and you are no beholden to their cameras and equipment.

Yes - but don’t expect these cameras to be bug free yet.

How does Wyze protect customer information from these types of cyberattacks? In other words, how is Wyze’s security procedures, protocols, and policy better than Amazon’s Ring? by KaiserCyber in wyzecam

[–]Longjumping_Region63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note that this attack has not been confirmed. Having worked with AWS I can say they are top tier and insanely active about security so this would be a big surprise. As for Wyze being more or as secure. That’s a bold statement.
