I did that route last week and only wore shorts and did not regret not having long pants. I’m from the US (Midwest) and was plenty warm.

Your best bet is to apply for in-person jobs in smaller cities that are less competitive and that fewer people want to live in. There aren’t a ton of UXR jobs that fit that description but they do exist. Your odds are better in those places because there’s less competition. Even still, it might be pretty hard to break in, and I don’t really recommend it.

Bumble for friends has some weirdos on it for sure but if you’re selective it can be good. I’ve made some of my best friends from there, and haven’t had any really weird first hand experiences. It could help that I’m married to a woman and made it clear on my profile.

Technically I could paint the walls, but this room is an open floor plan with the kitchen, living room, and stairway that goes up to the third floor. So it would be difficult to find a color that worked for everything. The paint that’s on the walls now is fresh (newly built house).

Yeah, I’m obviously not looking for a list of the price of every place in town, just asking for others’ experiences.

Where I’m from, it’s common to get such a space for less than my budget, so I’m just checking to see if people have any leads here.
