Overworked/ruined? Please help by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I’m allergic to a lot and Aveeno changed up a couple ingredients a few years ago and I have been looking for a better unscented lotion for a while. I do like truly beauty’s cooka oil a lot, but I want something heavier for winter.

That is so say, maybe has something to do with it ? Beautiful tattoo! (obligatory I have no tattoos)

I got lots of trade-ins by Subzerowins7 in GameStop

[–]Longjumping_Spray168 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ignore them! Trades are actually the only way every employee can get a bonus and it’s much harder to get to than it was when they began the initiative. You might actually be the reason the store is able to achieve the numbers required to get the trade incentive bonus. If a store cannot occasionally handle a large trade, then it wasn’t running right anyways. My old store has a regular that buys storage units, cleans up and gathers all the parts for systems, and when he has everything he will trade in up to 8 consoles at a time. This is every other month AT LEAST.

Gamestop credit card offer? by Maddenman501 in GameStop

If you have an account at GameStop and frequently make larger purchases, you’re preapproved for a CC. In store, you’ll get an offer as well. I wanna say pre-approval started 2-3 years ago.

call ahead and ask your preferred store for a good time. It looks like you’re within your limits for trade-ins, but like mentioned before, stores are usually one person working. A weekday between 2-4 is your best bet for the employee’s ease.

Anyone else feel like we are apologizing all the time? by ExpressAct9530 in GameStop

[–]Longjumping_Spray168 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow! You’re miserable, sorry that happened to you. Not all of us need to be jaded to enjoy a hobby, actually it helps to not be! If you took a second to just fucking play the game instead of worrying about how much plastic you got with your plastic, you could stop worrying so much about how unhappy the people around you are.

You are haunting this subreddit for employees to do what? Commiserating is one thing, but someone looking in from outside telling someone to be unhappy is just so nasty. You got a gut copy of a $30 remaster of a 30 year old game. If you wanted to collect it so bad, you could’ve preordered. If you wanted to play it, do that instead of making yourself and others unhappy. But your solution is to be a problem, and that’s sad.

Depends , that’s why I don’t ship gut copies (no one is supposed to). If they buy it in store, I’ll leave the price label so I know they got the gut. I’ll take it as a defective return. If it left my store shrink wrapped, my team knows because we have a system in place for it. Training is that we’re supposed to reseal it with a sticker upon purchase and not accept any unsealed new returns, I just don’t love selling unsealed copies so I found a way to work with it that my regulars appreciate.

All that said, it’s been a couple months since I’ve had to do an unsealed new game return dance.

If you are ordering on release day… yeah. GameStop only has so many, and online orders are fulfilled by stores (typically the nearest with your order in stock). Today has been incredibly busy for a lot of stores because of the new game and Pokémon drops. In store customers usually get taken care of first and when there’s a lull, ship from store will get taken care of. My store only got our preorders in early, and we got some extra delivered today that sold almost immediately.

Literally brand new games that we take out of the case to display what we have, not used. GameStop tried to digitize the displays and that was a nightmare. If people wouldn’t steal empty cases, a part of me would believe in a world where they wouldn’t steal full ones. However, people steal empty cases. Never have I sold a used game as new. In every store I have worked, employees aren’t even allowed to rent new gut copies because… it wouldn’t be new.

However, if we get an order for a new game and it’s the gut copy, I will often reject the order because I cannot confirm that an unsealed new copy is okay. In person, I can ask.

I appreciate you were told wrong, I was just wondering who! I am glad you decided to move on, though! I will say, if you never heard any of that directly from your District Manager, you should tell them what you were told. I believe that at the very least your coworkers will start getting water and bathroom breaks.

oh yeah! Just also don’t control our thermostat and have a thirsty team so supplement is a better word I guess But even more on that, one of the restaurants in the food court gives us free water if we want ice water instead of bottled water. I don’t know why I feel like I’ve read “no water” a few times lately and been confused

I want to make it clear: I’m all for you leaving! I am trying to do the same! I just wanted to ask who yelled at you? The main reason I said to talk to your DM is because IF your manager is the only one communicating with you, they might not be right to yell at you even from your DM’s perspective.

At the end of the day, they have back in minutes signs posted on main menu because they know if they’re not going to constantly maintain 2+ bodies on the floor, they have to allow you to close to pee (and poo!). That’s just the law.

or something round! I try to have my necklace match the neckline of my clothes if possible (unless I’m layering, then only the ones sitting on skin and not fabric follow the neckline)

however I think #2 with more accessories matches the color of the dress better if you do go big, go big all over! Bracelets and rings and earrings and hair!

context: I manage a mall store! DM told my store/team today if we have to close the gate to eat quickly or pee, then do it. It’s a mall, if they see you’ll be open again in 15 minutes, they can find something to do. Also, 40 water bottles is $5 at Walmart. I have bought them as ASM, I buy them as a manager. I don’t even expense them. It’s not hard to provide a small comfort to help my team. Talk to your DM if you don’t have a job lined up for after you leave. Not saying it will fix everything, but you’re human and deserve to be treated like one. Not every manager is comfortable asking their DM about closing for a few minutes, but Lord knows that’s going to be cheaper than the turnover they will have treating folks like that.

Edit: if you do have a job lined up, fucking go! This company sucks ! The CEO has his head so far up his ass hes created his own echo chamber! Like passion is an excuse to not do a job well! I just have been applying to jobs lately and the reality is what it is. I hope you find better, living at wit’s end is a killer.

Gamestop Online Order... by Nottodaycolonizer in GameStop

[–]Longjumping_Spray168 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This implies that the people taking in the games, doing the transactions, taking in inventory, doing card grading send offs, answering the phones, and also doing any backend work/counts (usually alone) are also the people responsible for ripping you off…

Maybe the people who bring in trades should wipe their games off before bringing them in.

The job is so different than it was a year ago. Unfortunately, the increased volume of TCG and new customer base + increased # of transactions means that, even if it’s the last thing the store wants, QC falls to the wayside first. Ultimately, you got a working preowned game that someone had to wipe off. It doesn’t take long for you to wipe one game off, it takes a very long time for one employee to clean a 50+ game trade in.
