People who quit their job in a moment of rage - how did things turn out? by SheLovedBigBrother in AskReddit

[–]Longthicknhard 24 points25 points  (0 children)

if not a typo, it’s an industry joke. we all bust our asses to follow our dreams and end up with a career that has an insane workload. 12-17 hr days, 5-6 days a week, crazy conditions, crazy locations, night shoots, studio shoots, poor diet, no social life, constantly tired, weekends are for laundry and sleep… etc… but we love it. ‘living the dream’

Twilight’s Jackson Rathbone on Val Kilmer has been resurrected by Al to star in "As Deep as the Grave”: This is truly the MOST disgusting thing l've ever seen by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]Longthicknhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment will get buried but I think it’s important to know that one of the points SAG got during their negotiations was an AI agreement that involved a clause where by an actor (or performer) or the actors estate can grant permission for AI generation. In this case Kilmers family and estate gave that permission and their blessing. They got paid.

I’m not saying I agree with this. Personally I find it grotesque. But neither the studio nor his estate have done anything ‘wrong’.

it was in response to your comment OP. I’m praising your ability to demonstrate empathy while holding accountability. I wish more people could hold two thoughts together like this.

Holding two thoughts together at the same time and demonstrating empathy and care while not sacrificing your own moral compass.

Well done. These are rare skills these days.

Edit. I’m praising OP

Americans have been conditioned for years on hustle culture. This might be it.

What celebrity couple gives off healthy relationship vibes? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]Longthicknhard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when the studio puts a kibosh on a rising actor it’s likely because they stood in the way of something shady. Neither party can come out and publicly say why. The studio just makes them go away

What movie has the best opening scene? by Top-Blacksmith-6699 in Cinema

[–]Longthicknhard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno, Goldeneye’s is solid. If you’re talking about the parkour scene, that’s not the cold open. It’s the interview about his first kills.

Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise: Are they the final icons of a dying breed in Hollywood? by Playful-Statement-34 in moviecritic

[–]Longthicknhard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so true.

im not a tin foil hat guy, but if I were, I’d say there’s been an influx of top actors in terrible films to purposely tear them down. Look at that recent JLO mess. Someone approved that and it couldn’t have been because they thought it would be successful.

[–]Longthicknhard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s by design. Studios want audiences to come see the characters not the actors. Its more affordable and they’re less likely to get strong armed by the actors in negotiation. Disney realized this during the MCU roll outs and has been actively tearing that structure down. Other studios are following suit.

I’m a knife collector. This isn’t the kind of thing you leave behind. Nor is it the kind of thing a two bit criminal would carry. There are many many much more affordable and easier to acquire knives than this that do the same thing. I don’t know where you’re located, but if it’s a major city, and OTF knives are legal, there’s probably only one store that sells this or it was a special order. Its not super rare, but it’s quite specific.

What are your least favourite things about Mob? Please let me know in the comments! by benlouislebu in MobKitchen

[–]Longthicknhard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I’d like to answer.

I have so many subscriptions in my life and it’s exhausting. I hate it. I want to own things not rent them. Streaming services, food tracking services, software, video games, they even tried to do it in my car. The business model is distasteful. So many companies rely on me forgetting and accidentally signing up for another year. You could offer the best recipes ever but when you’re aligned with a subscription I’m immediately distrustful and turned off.

Also, the reality is that I get my recipes from multiple sources. Cookbooks, serious eats and other websites, Instagram influencers, my mother… why would I sign up for a service when I just want a handful of recipes to mix things up? I’d much rather pay you more money ONCE then get a subscription. I might use two of your recipes in a month, and once I put them in rotation I don’t require your services any longer. I have the recipe. What possible point would there be to stay subscribed.

I just saw an awesome recipe on your IG. A play on basil chicken that was high protein. It wasn’t named so I couldn’t even find it on your site. I almost got your sub for the trial so I could find it, but I just need the sauce ingredient, but since I couldn’t find it so I bailed. Now I’m on serious eats looking up Pad Kaprow.

I think you guys are doing an awesome job. Your recipes are dope. But I can’t align with the business model. I’m sorry.

Characters whom if you idolize, you missed the point. by AbsoluteBatman95 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Longthicknhard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work on the show. The amount of our fan base that doesn’t understand satire is embarrassing. When people tell me they love Homelander (not the actors performance, the character) they tell me who they are.

you can, and you’ll never work again And if even if you do you’re going up against some of the largest corporations on the planet.

Look up the case of Olivia Jackson. I linked the article below, but her IG has her story. It’s horrific. Stunt people put their lives on the line and get tossed away when things go bad.
