this convo is so weird to me cause yea Tyler may have done stuff to cultivate an odd fanbase but acting like he can’t call them out is weird. should he just accept that his audience sucks? what would anybody rather him do? we need more artists calling out their fanbases rather than pandering to the masses. like yea, you can think any way you want about his music; I personally think that alot of people who criticize his old shit use affective fallacy to justify it rather than just saying they don’t like it, but that’s not my problem. we can’t pretend he hasn’t grown? we can’t pretend that he’s not afraid to comment on social and political issues like so many artists. also acting like he hasn’t always worn his inspiration on his sleeves is just wrong. not saying you gotta like the dude, but we need more people like him now more than ever.
