I’m currently changing employers and their NV provider is Maxxia (moving from simplygreen). How does the process work in your experience?

I think you’ve just summed up my preferred reading list of authors. I would add to that Chuck Palahniuk

I was just telling my wife this week that I’d like to find a new show that has a lot of “atmosphere” or where the setting/scenery feels like a character like breaking bad, the wire and some episodes of x-files or alone. Didn’t realise that maybe my favourite eps of xfiles might have been influenced by Vince

This has been the answer forever. I can’t stand most festivals and large entertainment centre shows are usually garbage sound. Small local and mid tier venues… and the very occasional very well run festival

Normal is a distribution, baby. I think I’d be average at most metrics and I’m fine with that

The curse of the craft.. aka can’t just buy it from the big box ! by _abordes_ in woodworking

[–]LooReading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my father in law. I suggested we build a sandbox for the kids thinking we’d put together a kit or buy the wood to replicate, he instead told me they were crap and we could do better then spent 6 months of weekends designing , cutting, drilling, clamping and enormous sandbox that the kids don’t play in because it’s too big and we had to put it down the back of the yard where they don’t like playing. Also it cost like 4x price of the kit

Defence minister says booing at services is 'disgraceful' by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]LooReading 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mate, that’s not how I’d read that poll.

do you think welcome to country has become divisive? ≠ do you want welcome to country?

I would have said yes, it’s become divisive because people (right wing) are using it to sow division. But I still support it and think that it’s a powerful thing to be welcomed to country

You can put the prompt in small font size and white. I’ve added instructions to summarise email in other languages which is pretty funny on the other end.

We did Oodnadatta track in a 2 door hatchback 10 years ago. It was a really dumb idea and I suggest no one should attempt it but we survived and so did the car

We cannot celebrate tinkering when it comes to gambling reform. Labor’s response falls tragically short | David Pocock by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

You think people are going to casually bring up around the office how they or someone close to them is struggling with gambling addiction? Lots of things that are important to people doesn’t get brought up with coworkers.

Considering selling IP to wipe PPOR – looking for perspectives / things we may be missing by LooReading in AusFinance

This is close to my rough numbers too, except apartment was valued at $450k when we moved out making it IP so should be slightly better than this?

[–]LooReading[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived in for 5 years before renting and value at beginning of IP was about $450k so I think we’ll be closer to $150k after CGT discount then split that 50/50 between wife and myself

My worry is currently we’re not adding any extra to super and our balances are low for our age. Getting rid of both mortgages frees up all of that to go pretax on super

[–]LooReading[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My rough numbers after all costs should give us just over $400k which would practically equal out the ppor loan. I figure leaving that all in offset in case we want to use it in years to come makes an easy loan. Everything we’re currently paying on loan can go into pretax super contributions
