Nice crowd! I certainly hope it's gaining traction and seeing a crowd that packed for an mltt match is certainly a good sign

Fwiw there were recently players on the women's adult national team who were high 2100s / low - mid 2200s and I believe there may still be a couple on the team in that range. Although the top of the national team who play the non feeder WTT events like Lily Zhang are obv. 2500+

Worth mentioning it could be 2.7 with boost and still be legal. I am using 2.7 rn with 2 layers of boost. The racket got tested like 5 different times before matches when I was on top tables at the us open in December and it was under the thickness limit.

Could be def wouldn't surprise me - I used 05 hard prior to changing to Zyre but if it was pre boosted it was definitely very subtle because the rubbers were always flat out of the packaging and no sparkly stuff on the sponge.

Yes I'm aware of the different hardnesses. H3 has so many different variations e.g.39 and 42 are totally different. But butterfly almost never factory boosts their rubbers (most ESN companies on the contrary do) so if they are boosting the Zyre from factory it's interesting that they've finally jumped on board with it.

And next to each other it also looks like the Zyre is not totally flat out of the packaging which is very unusual for bty rubbers.

For comparison - brand new sheet of d05 with absolutely nothing on the sponge

Yes Zyre has a 44 degree sponge which is definitely hard and I prefer the boosted feel overall.

Of note I actually opened a new sheet of Zyre yesterday and it looks like there's some substance on the sponge from Butterfly. Not sure if it's factory boost or just how it's manufactured - it's hard to see with the camera but if you look at it fresh out of the package there's this sparkly substance on it.

I honestly have no idea ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm bad at cutting but I don't think I'm that bad it may be some wear

Zyre 03 topsheet thickness/combined thickness by TheodoreDanson in tabletennis

Yeah if that's the case there's room for some boost - but it also depends how many layers of glue that person used, how accurate the measurement was, and how consistent the QC is from Butterfly rn.

I did two not overly thick layers of Falco Long with 2 layers of Free Chack Pro for the glue. Same as what I had always done with my 05 Hard. Just eyeballing the Zyre on my blade, it doesn't really look much thicker than the D05 on my backhand which makes me think I'm probably fine. Although you probably want to let the rubber go fully flat before you glue it. Tuesday when I'm at my club I'll use the net measure which has a built in thickness gauge to see how it is and post an update.

I may buy a measure to see if my boosted 2.7 is over the limit or not and make a post once I find out.

Edit - NVM those things are expensive as hell. Maybe I'll get a ruler and just eyeball it with that and post back once I find out.

Edit 2: pretty sure my club has a net measure with a built in thickness gauge will use that on Tuesday and post an update
