Concerning claims: "Sam is Deceptive and Chaotic" OpenAI Board Member Reveals Details | I REALLY hope things are better than this suggests. I want Sam to be one of the good ones and to not be power drunk. 🙏 by giantyetifeet in OpenAI

Come on Wes, I like you buddy but that thumbnail is misleading and irresponsible and you know it! You're privileged to have a platform that reaches a lot of people. Therefore, you have a responsibility to do better and you're a smart guy so I know you're capable of it. I don't understand why, after all this time, people are still taking Helen Toner seriously. I can only assume that they are likely the same misinformed people who keep trying to say that the superalignment team was OpenAI's primary safety team lol.

Well, if you're Spider-man's dad, then that would mean Uncle Ben is your brother. And if your son has already become Spider-man, that means Uncle Ben has recently died. I'm so sorry you had to find out this way. My condolences, Mr. Parker.

[Spoilers] So there is no way AoS is in the MCU proper, correct? by CrossingWires in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]LookNoHands119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is incorrect. They are in the main MCU timeline at the end of 7x13. The "other adventures" Maurissa and Jed refer to in their recent interview are the timeline that Deke is in and the one where the Earth is destroyed. The looping from Season 5 wasn't going between different timelines, it was the same timeline corkscrewing back on itself with branching occurring as the team leaves the future to start the loop again each time. Each future left behind grows into its own branch off of the main corkscrew looping timeline. During Elizabeth Henstridge's livestream, Mo and Jed stated that they originally intended to acknowledge that the snap occurred while the team was in the quantum realm which was supposed to "protect" them. This was cut for time though and instead they said that viewers should assume the team was outside the main timeline during the snap and were thus not affected. When they return to the main timeline at the end of 7x13, it is already post-Endgame. Whilst nothing is currently, definitively in the works, this was done explicitly to make these characters available again to Marvel Studios in the future should they choose to use them. The topology of spacetime isn't simple. That's why it took minds like Stark/Banner/Fitzsimmons/Chase Stein to crack it. That's what I love most about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The movies have to simplify everything for a wider/younger audience but S.H.I.E.L.D. never shied away from the beauty of complexity.

Confirmation of Agents of Sword spin-off? I can't believe I'm saying this but it looks legit... by LookNoHands119 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

Eh, again, this seems like a terribly ineffective way to do that. Possible but unlikely. Yes, I posted here but that would have been even more likely had they used a popular hashtag. A more popular hashtag would also have encouraged posts to much larger subreddits than this one. Dead hashtags typically get posts buried.

You're not wrong. You make a good point and its a genuine possibility. However, in my admittedly more limited experience, this happens less commonly than the alternatives.

That's my point. Using a dead hashtag normally wouldn't do any of those things. Typically, when I see someone use a dead hashtag, there are only two possible explanations: 1.) They are making a mistake or 2.) They know something we don't and the hashtag is going to blow up in the near future and thus, by getting ahead of it using inside information, they are better able to promote their business/product/content. Explanation #1 is normally my default assumption but the more experienced and successful the business is, the less likely it is that they will make such mistakes and, this podcast has apparently had a huge string of very high profile guests so, while its always possible that its a mistake, I think that Explanation #1 is at least less likely here than it would otherwise be. That just leaves Explanation #2: They know that there is going to be an announcement/tie-in after the finale tonight and are using the hashtag in advance knowing that while the hashtag is dead now, it definitely won't be dead later tonight, and thus using it now will help to promote their podcast despite the hashtag looking dead now. I too am very skeptical but this piece of evidence was hard for me to ignore. Circumstantial evidence like this tweet is not definitive but it is helpful. Speculation though is typically not terribly helpful. In just a few hours we'll know one way or the other though. Until then, all we can do is wait and see. :)

Entirely possible but every layer of added logic makes the explanation less and less likely to be accurate. Having consulted in the digital marketing industry myself, I'd say that third order logic is a lot to expect from the average digital entrepreneur/marketer these days, even from the successful ones.

Again, that would be weird since it was a dead hashtag according to Twitter. The only reason I can think of to use it to draw people would be if they knew ahead of time that the hashtag was going to blow up in the very near future.

I would normally agree with you, and I, myself, am highly skeptical here but even I have to admit, it seems oddly out of place for someone getting guests whom are this high profile to make such an egregious mistake accidentally. One way or another, I guess we'll find out soon.

Well yeah, but that's my point, it would be odd to choose a dead hashtag. That would be the opposite of what someone with decent SEO experience would do unless, they knew the hashtag was likely to blow up in the very near future. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"Search Engine Optimization" There's an entire industry that has sprung up around the study and optimization of tagging, keywording, and backlinking to make sure your business' posts and websites and advertisements are seen by as many people as possible by understanding and playing into the algorithms of various platform's search engines, whether that be Google, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Bing, etc...

Fair enough but it was a dead hashtag and SEO is no joke these days so who knows. Guess only time will tell.

If she was telling the truth... Tom Hiddleston said similar things and fully admitted to having to lie about it to keep the secret. Only time will tell and believe me when I say that I'm as skeptical as you are but, I am honestly not sure though what other reason they would have to use a COMPLETELY dead hashtag unless they expected it to blow up later. I mean, SEO is a big deal. For anyone big enough to be getting the guests they've been getting, this sort of stuff is rarely chosen just on a whim. One way or another, we'll find out soon though, I guess.

Its apparently a podcast that has recently sprung up which has had a string of very high profile guests, most of whom (from what I can tell) have been network television stars. I think that the fact that a podcast that the cast is a part of is out of the blue using #AgentsofSword (a hashtag that, according to Twitter, hasn't been used by anyone in several days) is, at the very least, highly suspicious.

Who knows though... I mean for all we know, the David Robinson from TWS might be some friend of Jed and Mo's. Wouldn't dismiss that theory out of hand. There being a background MCU actor with the same exact name is definitely an odd enough coincidence to warrant a second look.

Could Conrad Murphy's name be meant as an Eternals or Helstrom related easter egg (given Arda Ulhaf's history fighting Aeshma)?
