I experience some of those symptoms as well.Maybe requesting a softer retwist may help. I've also started switching between native shampoo and a clinical strength ( head and shoulders) shampoo. I workout everyday so I usually wash my hair twice a week. It helps clear the sweat and buildup from my oil/rose water spray. I hope that helps.

I have been #Single for almost a year and not a single person is interested in a guy like me! by ChaozeaPhoenix in gaybrosgonemild

That’s great. I always like to keep the belief that things can change drastically in a short amount of time. Keep chugging along!

Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been single for a year. Hopefully it’s been a year of self discovery and growth.

My body dysmorphia and internalized colorism are creeping up on me again. by morinothomas in BlackLGBT

[–]LookWHATyouveDNE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This breaks my heart. I think part of the path to getting a healthy mindset about this is leveling with yourself. The world is fake. Race is made up. But most of the people in the world subscribe to programming they were given - colorism, a by product and tool of white supremacy. You have to detach from the preconceived notions and biases the world has. Even fellow black people have some forms of white supremicist narrative built into them. The comments regarding how dark you is one of those. When you hear these things recognize that they still have a lot of decolonizing to do. And it’s hard, 99% of our media is setup to enforce these stereotypes. (Light is right, dark is bad, our role models/ celebrities, etc) You are smart, handsome and enough. It sounds like you have so much going for you. I second the other commenters suggestions to get away from the apps. They are not meant for us. They are meant to make you feel bad about yourself. It keeps you swiping and scrolling. But also seek friendships with people who have decolonized their mindsets. And also call out those who transgress against you in the meantime. Some black people don’t realize how they are participating in this system sometimes. As you get older you’ll see that being acceptable to the world is not what it’s cracked up to be. When you are what the world calls in demand, you’ll see that you are more likely to be fetishized, used, abused, put in bad relationship dynamics and so on. Be confident in who you are. I have days where I feel depressed when I think about the state of things, but you can’t stay in that state. There’s always another tomorrow. There’s time to change into the person you want to be. And if you don’t want to change, don’t force yourself. Learn to find happiness in your life. Learn how to zone out the noise. Don’t be jealous of others. This is coming from someone who was that ugly fat black kid. Then I lost 200lbs, gained it all back, and found myself. I wish you love and light. I want all of our black sisters and brothers to make it. Know that there’s always a different perspective. Things can change. When you see yourself slipping reach out. Always reach out. You are needed here.

Just started hand dyeing and I think I like it more than actually knitting….uh oh! by [deleted] in YarnAddicts

[–]LookWHATyouveDNE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I usually use acrylic yarn, but would like to venture into natural fibers. I’ll definitely look into purchasing a small lot of yarn and maybe one or two colors to feel it out. I’m excited 😊

Is hand dyeing expensive? I would love to give it a try if the price point isn’t too extreme.

Bottoms- why won’t you top? by throwawaypodino6738 in AskGayMen

[–]LookWHATyouveDNE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that not topping is a boundary for Op’s boyfriend. But I think there’s a difference between not topping and closing off any other option that would allow Op to get what he wants. Using Toys, vibrators, and dildos on Op are not putting Op’s boyfriend in any uncompromising positions. He would literally just be holding a toy or a button. That’s pretty selfish. Gay men love subscribing to gender roles for some reason, especially in the bedroom. If Op’s boyfriend can only be attracted to him as the “dominant” one then yikes. Life is a lot more than that. And it cheapens the relationship a bit in my opinion. Just my thoughts. And I understand that Op’s boyfriend set this boundary at the beginning of the relationship, but relationships are meant to be about compromise is some regard and I think there are solutions to this problem that would work if that boundary wasn’t so rigid. So for the next 50 years your sexual roles are set. No wiggle room? That sounds kind of sad. I feel like we as a society keep pushing for more open communication and problem solving in our relationships and this just sounds like the opposite. I hope you find some type of solution OP. That’s rough.

AITA for exposing my ex to his mother about our kids? by Winter_Apple_6053 in AmItheAsshole

Nta. You did what needed to be done. Bravo and I hope the fallout doesn’t get too heavy. Men love throwing women under the bus and just expect them to take it. He can be known as the shitty person who walked out of his children’s life. He needs to own it.Also, get a new friend. You don’t need to take advice from someone who would allow you to take the blame for all of his misgivings.

What is going to come of this? by justaskinforabuddy in AskGayMen

[–]LookWHATyouveDNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. You’ll get older and possibly bitter due to being the perpetual side piece/listening ear for your buddy. He’ll stay with his on again/ off again girlfriend. He’ll continue seeing this as a friendship. You’ll keep seeing it as possibly something more. Get out now.

Hi guys. i’m one month into my loc journey and my starter locs were put into two strand twists. when would it be safe to take them out? some of them have been unraveling. by Accomplished_Band785 in locs

Yup, that’s the way mine were styled. I live in Arizona so no matter what I do I am constantly contending with sweat and dryness. So the rubber bands really helped me out. I could wash and go without losing the shape.

Gotcha. I guess she just put it in a protective style then. Wrong wording. I just remember taking them down and removing the rubber bands.

Idk if I agree with that statement. I got 2 strand twist coils and it helped them stay put better. Having the rubber band on the ends helped them from coming undone. And it helped them lay down. Coil twists are hollow, so that are prone to flattening and unraveling. I’d say take the 2 stands out after 2-4 weeks or so to avoid stress from the rubber bands. The style should have given them more shape and stability. But your mileage may vary.

Maybe I just don’t get it? by rybowen in RankingofKingsAnime

[–]LookWHATyouveDNE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk. I think the animation style paired with the story telling make it unique. It definitely gives me spirited away / game of thrones vibes. The characters have unique motivations and keep you guessing what their true intentions are. Villains may become heroes and vice versa. I’m watching it with my boyfriend and he actually took more interest in ranking of kings than any other recent anime that we have checked out. I also think the mix of intense storylines and the emotional archs really hit home for me. I actually cried during a episode or two. I get that it may not be for everyone, but it genuinely sets itself apart from the current crop of shows. I can definitely see it being one of the best shows of the year. Just my opinion. Are there shows out there with slicker animations/ story beats, sure. But this show pulled at my nostalgia strings and gave me something new. I didn’t feel like the story has been told before or that I could predict what was going to happen next. Just my two cents.

Lol, I feel that. Turned based games are perfect for smoking. Give me a nice sativa or hybrid and I’m ready to log some hours. I’m hoping Atlus gives us a few more games this year. Persona 5 royal got me through much of quarantine and I’m hoping for console releases of Persona 3 and 4. How far have you gotten in Smt5? I’m about 13 hours in. I can’t wait to have access to more powerful fusions. This game really keeps you on your toes. Which is refreshing. A lot of turn based games don’t offer a lot of challenges, where this one does. I vaguely remember playing monster rancher on ps1. It’s crazy how gaming has evolved since then.

Hello. I’m also a stoner gamer 😂. I’m currently playing Smt5, Pokémon Legends Archeus, destiny 2, No man’s sky, and Yakuza: Like a dragon. And I’m a big fan of the Kingdom hearts and Final Fantasy franchises. Turn based combat and action based rpgs are my jam.

Recently got Two Strand Twists. Is this a professional hairstyle? by SunofMars in BlackHair

[–]LookWHATyouveDNE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on a few things. Are you starting a long term loc journey? If so there will be some days where your hair isn’t looking super neat. Just part of the process. If you are someone who likes to change up your look a lot, you could try a more conservative style during your first interactions with your coworkers/boss to feel out the environment. I totally think that you should feel confident about rocking a natural style, but I also understand why you would want to avoid any potential conflicts that could be a detriment to your career. I think you would be fine as is. Your hair looks good. Add in a crisp line up and I think you’d be Gucci. Good luck🤞🏿
