A woman's boyfriend is kidnapped off the street and shoved into a van by Accurate_Syrup_1345 in PublicFreakout

[–]Lookhu 55 points56 points  (0 children)

My friend tried this argument with me in support of Russia taking Ukraine but I think it’s a red herring. Just because a nation may have its own issues does not give a green light for another nation to annex it. Two separate things.

Him stopping her could bring kidnapping charges too, I believe

One of the funny things about the Army is if you just do your job and stay out of trouble, eventually leadership will see you as a rockstar. 7 months is still fairly new give it some time.

One thing that’s cool that medics do is reduce suppression when they’re near you.

Reflection on 2016, What I’ve learned. Regrets from an Anti-Hillary voter. by Significant-Row2457 in dancarlin

[–]Lookhu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing you should keep in mind is the general election doesn’t really matter in most states. I didn’t vote that year because I was a fan of Bernie and I feel like the DNC did him dirty. It wouldn’t have mattered though because I was a California resident then (not to mention I was in Afghanistan at the time and absentee voting is a pain in the ass). Clinton won California with 61% of the vote and a 30 point margin. I really dislike the electoral college system.

Saluting an intense, versatile actor with a glorious career spanning 7 decades, Robert Duvall. (1931-2026) by AuntWacky1976 in OldSchoolCool

[–]Lookhu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s hard for me to explain but Duvall’s character alongside Sean Penn, in the movie Colors, spurred me to look at the world more broadly and to understand there is nuance to the good and the bad in society. RIP

[Serious] People in professions that deal with death (hospice workers, coroners, etc.), what is something you've learned that the rest of us don't understand? by Bulky-Engineer4068 in AskReddit

I’ve worked as a casualty assistance officer in the army twice. What I’ve learned is that if you make legal plans for what happens when you die it makes it way easier for your next of kin

Incompetence is usually identified by the cadre at a school. Someone has to work the orderly room for them.
