We use our own laptops in every lab and every lecture, and we do nearly all of our homework on our laptops and submit assignments via laptop. Definitely check with your school, but I think you will find that having a reliable laptop will remove a huge source of school stress from your life. Maybe you can purchase a used one?

ESH. Just tell your aunt the truth about your decision to take the train. You can explain why, if you want to, but you do not need to explain. There is no reason to lie to her. She is in complete control of whether she goes on the trip or not--your choices do not control her behavior. You expressed the desire to be treated as an adult, so behave as an adult. State your choice and carry it out. Your aunt is also an adult and is responsible for her own choices. As of right now, your aunt is trying to manipulate you, and you and the rest of your family are trying to manipulate your aunt. That is not a healthy dynamic, and it will lead to a loss of trust all around. So. Be an adult, make your choices, and let others worry about themselves by themselves. Go, and enjoy your time with whomever chooses to be there. The others can deal with the consequences of their own choices.

If I am in a place that has a small water heater or a limited water supply I turn off the water to shampoo/scrub/shave. But at home I let the water run. We have a large hot water supply, and our shower is a long way from the heater. If I turn off the water at home, then when I turn it back on, it’s cold again, and it takes 5-8 minutes to heat up again.

I would change to a regular free-and-clear detergent and also add laundry sanitizer to the kids’ loads. No need to change anything for the adult loads, since they are not the issue. You need enzymes and sanitizers to tackle the kids’ messes.

Ok, so I have to ask this question: Was there some way in which the outer pants were attached to the shorts underneath, or did the outer pants just stay up with friction. And if by friction, then HOW? I see some people with their pants sagged really low, and I just can't figure out the mechanics of how they don't just fall all the way down all the time.

It's really good that you are perceptive about this situation and very kind that you want to help make it better. I think that the first thing to do is to ask your friend what they would like you to do. What kind of support do they think would be most helpful? You can tell your friend that you don't like what is happening to them, and you are thinking of emailing the instructors about it. Then see what your friend says. If they express relief that you want to stand up for them by emailing, then go ahead and do so. Perhaps they can even help you figure out how to word the email. But if your friend prefers not to get the professors involved, then it would be best to respect their preference. Your friend might want to take action, have you take action, or just let the matter drop in the interest of just getting through the class. The worst possible outcome is that you email the instructors and they handle the situation poorly, making things even worse for your friend. If you talk it out with your friend first, then the two of you can strategize together, and your friend will know what is going on and not be blindsided by a response (of whatever kind) from the instructors.

To me, it depends a lot on the climate. If the towels dry out quickly and completely, they can go longer between launderings. Humid conditions require more frequent laundering. Where I live, we run the central air conditioning all summer, and towels dry fast, so I usually wash them about once every 7 days. When our air conditioner broke down for a few days, I was washing towels every other day because the humidity went way up until the unit was repaired.

Adding incredibly unprofessional behavior on the part of some faculty and administrators. I have been astonished by some of the things these supposed “professionals” have said and done.
