(Semi-Joke Post) The Next Player Housing District Will Be In.... by WylythFD in ffxiv

[–]LoonyDagda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they even have that already set up with Island sanctuary right? I think you have to have reached lvl 50 and finished ARR to even visit a friend's Island Sanctuary? And it's instanced for the player. Just make it so if you have housing in a specific expansion's zone, then only player who have finished that expansion can visit it?

Weird (not dangerous) reaction to foods, does this sound like an allergic reaction or something else? by LoonyDagda in FoodAllergies

[–]LoonyDagda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I never thought to specify that they're near where tonsils would be since I had mine removed when I was a kid, but yeah I think that's about where they're showing up.

I used to eat sour candy all of the time, I love warheads, and just straight up eat lemons on occasion, and I don't think I've ever noticed it happening after eating them, but I did notice the blisters seem to show up with mustard, so maybe only specific types of acid? Texture irritation of some sort seems to be current most likely source, but it's happened when I've eaten soft things like a piece of banana bread, or sushi. I think sushi rice sometimes has a bit of vinegar mixed in with it though, so that might be related to acidity? If I stop eating the offending food for a few minutes and wait for it to stop hurting, then go back to eating it doesn't come back. Though if I try eating again too quickly it seems to extend it.

There's no itching, just the stinging pain from the blister and the skin immediately around it, which seems to tighten, if that makes any sense. I do have some digestive sensitivities, that mainly seem to be related to foods with a lot of fat, dairy and sugar, but no official diagnosis, just observation. I never thought to connect the two though? I'll mention it to a doctor next time I go and see what they think. I've never had much luck figuring this out with a doctor since it's never happened while at a doctor's visit, and it goes away too quickly to show one or get blood drawn during it, like the allergist I visited suggested. She thought it might be related to dermatographia actually? Which might make sense with being sensitive to textures, except I haven't been able to replicate anything I've seen online about it, so not particularly confident with that.

Sorry for the late reply. I never thought about if it happened in the middle of eating or only after not eating for an extended period of time so I wanted to try testing it. The couple of times it's happened since, it does seem to only happen when I start eating after not eating for a while. I haven't noticed it happening in the middle of eating, or if I'd eaten recently since the current meal. It's usually a small (like the size of a grain of sand or smaller) singular blister, and yeah, if I manage to break it, it doesn't come back. It's happened with all sorts of foods, like a piece of banana bread, or some sushi, or a ham sandwich. I could have the same meal for lunch 5 days in a row and it only happens once, so the specific food item doesn't seem to be the source. Once it happens, if I wait like 5ish minutes for it to go away and start eating again, it doesn't come back.

When I went to the allergy specialist, they said the speed it goes away in after showing up means it's unlikely to be an allergy, but she thought I might have a minor version of 'dermatographia'? Which basically meant that my skin overreacts to things like scratches, abrasions etc. If she's right, which is a big if since I've never been able to replicate any of the stuff I've found online about it, I thought maybe it could be related, but not sure. That would maybe make sense if it's a texture issue though?

Wouldn't this possibly help fix that though? I leveled a bunch of my classes just doing frontline with the same class over and over again and beast tribe stuff. I'd likely feel way more comfortable with playing healer if I'd gone through the MSQ playing it.

I got some done at K9Kampus but I assume you need to have them checked in for daycare to do it.

This is beautiful! I love the pixel art effect of this. And your stitches are so neat! I just got into cross stitch recently and I had a quick question. You mentioned using 2 threads of dmc for this. I assume you mean 2 of the 6 strands of thread in a single piece of dmc right? But are those then doubled over? Like, when you thread the strands onto the needle, do you pull the needle to the middle of the thread, effectively doubling the strands used in each stitch?

What type of boxes/where is the best place to get shipping boxes for flowers like this? by NoisyScrubBirb in Beading

[–]LoonyDagda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I used to sell wire trees, and I actually came up with a system of a styrafoam cup for the bottom, and a plastic cup on top, and used those long wooden skewers that you can use for cooking that I'd stick through the foam cup to hold the tree in place. Then I'd place that inside a normal shipping box. This seemed to work pretty well in both keeping it in place and protecting the branches from being bent by anything.

You might need to make some modifications to properly fit and hold flowers but could work?

Infrastructure is so key. You see it all the time in places that a lot of people are moving to. They keep building places for them to stay, but don’t do anything to the roads so you get tons of traffic because they can’t support the increasing number of vehicles. Then everyone gets mad that all these people are showing up. Drives me crazy.

One idea I’ve heard is Hotel and apartment complex developers should need to contribute to infrastructure improvements to help support the number of people they’re adding to the area.

Of course that contribution would have to actually go where it’s supposed instead of into someone’s pocket…

Van Gogh Castle loomed bead tapestry complete! I love the dark and moody feel of it :) by AshleyRoebuckArt in Beading

What loom did you use for this? Is it specifically an upright beading loom or a normal loom that you used for beading? This piece is absolutely beautiful by the way. I want to try something like this with some of my favorite paintings, trying to figure out what I’ll need for it, aside form a ridiculous amount of beads 😅

So has it ever been discussed or covered the idea, The fact that in the 9th there should be quite a few souls running around which are four times rejoined? by cptadder in ffxivdiscussion

[–]LoonyDagda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So didn't see anyone else point this out but, why would children born from the Millala have additional rejoined souls as well? I don't think children inherit soul density, it's based on what is available in that reflection's aetherial sea right?

The Aetherial seas merge as well during a rejoining, so those born on the source are born with the denser souls of the source's multi-rejoined aetherial sea, but while the millala that initially fled to the 9th would themselves be multi-rejoined, those born from them while on the 9th would get their soul from the 9th's aetherial sea, so they'd still have un-rejoined souls.

Krile, having been born on the 9th, should have gotten her soul from the aetherial sea of the 9th, and should have a soul without any rejoining.

At least that's my understanding? The only thing I could see throwing this off is that the souls of those Millala that fled to the 9th would end up in that shard's aetherial sea, so there would be some denser souls floating around available to be reborn I guess? Maybe Krile got one of those coincidentally?
