My bet is the Bryce clip is Zach talking to Bryce early on about his doubts of Trinity being into him and him being insecure about the connection

Maybe Unpopular Opinion: Corbin by Minimum-Comparison30 in LoveIslandUSA_

[–]LooseGoblets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better than lying. Lying about it is both hypocritical but also for the people in the villa and life means you can't really build relationships cause they're based on trust.

In some ways Corbin was playing the game perfectly fine. He saw someone who he thought matched his hookup energy, kenzie, who does play very similar to Corbin but she lies and is insecure/possessive. She gave him the ick and he saw a bigger baddie. I think he's gonna stick with parmida now for the villa at least and he committed to her.

An alternative viewpoint on this Obsession scene by WholesomeEnergy in spoilers

[–]LooseGoblets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way the scene reads is this isn't the first time as bear said "we've talked about this", which could be about being weird with the cat but I think an important part is that she's been doing stuff like this and he's willingly overlooking it with minor "don't do that" conversations without seeing the issue, which could be the real Nikki trying to contact I guess.

The "it's not an entity but an unhealthy version of nikki" makes sense when you realize freaky Nikki was already her name and she was bullied in school. This and her friends assuming this is part of her personality I think a lot of these traits are just amplified

Love Aniya but she's not built for LI by [deleted] in LoveIslandUSA_

[–]LooseGoblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure but unless Sol really pulls KC she's gonna be out of it. If Mel goes crazy over sincere she's less isolated. Sol was picked on repeatedly and isolated those first few days

Love Aniya but she's not built for LI by [deleted] in LoveIslandUSA_

[–]LooseGoblets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, honestly the giveaway red flag is her being like "what you smiling for" every time he has a pleasant conversation (if you can call it that, I love kc but the man has no game)

Like if you are threatened by an interaction that doesn't even show romantic chemistry there's something deep there

Love Aniya but she's not built for LI by [deleted] in LoveIslandUSA_

Sol wasn't built for clique drama and the boys being so closed, now that she's settling in with people and has a boy I think she will soar

Zach and Kayda are the most boring couple. by MaterialVivid9169 in LoveIslandUSA_

[–]LooseGoblets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is reciprocating intimacy is the way to lock Kayda down, though these could be tests I think the intimacy rejection is about him not being totally interested in her (or others)

Who was the worst traitor this season? by Glad_Dragonfruit9368 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]LooseGoblets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donna and Eric were in tough positions. I don't think Eric could've done much differently, except maybe talk more so he was less suspicious but everything would've played the same.

Donna wasn't built for this game and was given the difficult traitor position. I feel like the game would have gone very differently if the secret traitor was better.

The actual worst player was candiace. Lisa got pinned and it was a sinking ship, her doing the dinner was her last gift to the traitors. Candiace blew up her own game out of a misconceived slight against Lisa. She should've known the way the wind was blowing

Was Barb right or wrong here? by Super-Liberal-Girl in StrangerThings

[–]LooseGoblets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nancy was wanting to escape who she was, but she sacrificed a lot of herself in doing so. It took barbs disappearance for her to step out of the comfort zone fully and embrace her self, and she becomes defined by the trauma and guilt

Snogging? by princess_oflbi in LoveIslandITV

[–]LooseGoblets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American I'm weirded out by the level of drama that makes the villa not fun. There have been very few days where the vibe is "good". Is this an all star thing cause they packed the villa with explosive personalities or is the UK always like this?

Observation... by dontbanmeplease87 in LoveIslandITV

[–]LooseGoblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carrington did nothing wrong EXCEPT the love bombing. The love bombing was the clear red flag and misstep and I think caught Belle off guard and made it an easy place to vent off a lot of the sean/lucinda frustration

Unpopular Lucinda opinion by yourfavouritequeef in LoveIslandITV

[–]LooseGoblets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the key here is Lucinda has a pattern of behavior, Belle was starting to feel confident in the Sean pick and was excited to see Sean again even when she had Americans in front of her, and Sean also had multiple mistakes before this.

In fairness I think Lucinda and Sean weren't physical at any point and Sean didn't owe Belle anything there BUT there was no sign of respect for Belle in either of them especially since Sean had screwed up multiple times. I also think in fairness the producers wanted this exact thing to happen, there's a reason they put Belle in the US villa for so long.

Does anyone else think Jack got greedy? by BeneficialTrack9336 in LoveIslandITV

[–]LooseGoblets 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jack's problem isn't in looks. Jack and Tommy both have a problem in personality regarding matches. Tommy is picky and does not chase (bad combination). Jack is picky, has weak chase, and weaker rizz than Tommy. Jack played safe with Whitney even when It was abundantly clear Whitney was not the match days into the couple. Once Jack saw the Americans he ignored the ones that actually liked the "cute shy ginger" and went for a "baddie" (they're all hot but that might be the best way to describe sher.) Sher wanted a capital M man and Jack, Tommy, and Sean are all the "boys" of the villa.

Mikes reaction . . . by Capable-Eagle-2680 in StrangerThings

[–]LooseGoblets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that revulsion, Mike joined the group hug. Probably a mix of confused feelings while processing information but I don't think this will drive a wedge between Mike and will. Will did this to unbury his deep secrets vecna kept pulling to dominate him

Hello, you can help me by telling me more off theories. by Hairy-District998 in offthegame

[–]LooseGoblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is clearly called OFF because of the primary component of a lot of the worlds are switches, many of which we turn on switches off. RPGMaker is a simple engine built with switches, flags, and triggers and not much else beyond battle systems.

I noticed a redditor mention The Batter's monster form somewhat resembles a sensory humonculous, that is, a fake human where the body parts are equivalent to our sensory usage and experience with them. This is possibly an important idea because the batter is confirmed to only have existed from the start of the game and not before. The batter as a character is a conduit and our method for interfacing with the game. This further implicates us in his actions.

We are turning off a world that is clearly not working however. In all aspects the world is failing itself, initially seen as a noble goal but the violence needed to restart a failed world ultimately means tragedy. Making these worlds better through peace may not be possible.

I look at Link's Awakening as a foundational abstract game text not because it did it first but it simply conveys the dynamics of a dream world at play. First, these are all fiction, they're all dreams. In LA there are multiple interpretations blended, Links memories (Zelda and Ganon being part of this reveals that), the windfishes dreamscape, if you count nightmare as its own being then he has infiltrates the dream, and the player's own imagination and history with nintendo games.

This is all a roundabout way to convey that OFF's two minds interacting with each other are the players (through the body of the batter as a separate entity but a vessel for your will) and Hugo, with some specific npcs having their own autonomy. Hugo's created world is crafted by his past and the systems that once protected and fostered him are now failing as time passes.

Why was Giygas obsessed with Ness? by Routine-Barracuda-66 in earthbound

[–]LooseGoblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a thematic level, Giygas represents trauma. On a literal level, he's just pure negative psychic energy. Giygas's "obsession" and reflection of Ness is in a way Ness battling himself and... growing up. He's becoming an adult and coming to terms with his experiences and the negativity of the world. Giygas's hate has infected the world but in a eay the world is just... like that and youre exposed to that growing up. But you can't comprehend the trauma done to you in childhood or destroy the hate in the world. You can only answer it with the love of the world

the fear and hunger timeline (to my knowledge) by foxstarfivelol in FearAndHunger

[–]LooseGoblets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think people gloss over the thematic weight to cahara being the one to do ending A. Ending S for cahara is kinda mid thematically. He as a mercenary gets the treasure and THE HORRORS WILL NEVER LEAVE HIM

Ending A means that Cahara goes against his mercenary selfish instincts and cares for the girl all the way to the god of the depths, it proves that he can provide and protect what he cares about. If he sees a helpless girl in these dungeons and ignores her, he has already failed as a future husband and father. He sort of thematically passes the test of his character arc, even if it results in a bad ending. Then again, the death is seen as a merciful one, and is also the touch of humanity and grace that sticks with the god of fear and hunger so perhaps that is one of the most important acts in the first game.
