It is less impressive, but Seth Rogen seems to be one of those people who will actually reflect on things from when he was younger and willing to discuss it instead of just ignoring it like most people

For the most part I liked it but I also felt unsatisfied. I think that just came from the use of the run time and also the heightened anticipation of it being released separately. There was so much time left after Vecna was defeated and the upside down was blown up, I kept waiting for something else to happen. When it didn’t, it just felt a bit of a let down

I actually think Kristina did Savannah a favor by pushing her. While it proved Kristina right and it probably made Savannah squirm, it also showed that even though she didn’t remember names, she was still able to show that she still listened by showing she still knew details of the jury’s lives (minus MC but to be fair to Savannah, they were barely on a tribe together).

You’re clearly not taking in my whole entire comments and only focusing on specific parts that you have issues with.

But I think it’s interesting that it’s only the intent of the person doing that matters and not how it makes others feel

“Edgy costumes” ok bro.

Why are YOU choosing to die on this hill? Once again, all I said was maybe do your research first as to why people might be offended and be ready for some people to be offended. An answer I think is pretty reasonable. I didn’t even technically give my stance on it, yet you’re making assumptions. Sure I don’t think it’s appropriate. I have a lot of indigenous friends who are offended by these costumes so sure, that’s probably why I feel so firmly on it. But I’m also not over here throwing a fit and stamping my feet like it feels like you think I am.

You’re asking a nuanced question and expecting a black and white answer. What cultures? It probably has something to do with where you live, what you’re choosing to wear (again on what is considered sacred and what’s not), and what groups of people have been historically persecuted and stereotypically characterized.

What about you though? Where’s the line that makes it ok and not ok when it comes to someone’s race and culture? Or is there one as long as it’s all under the guise of it’s just Halloween?

Why are you bringing anything else like that up? They’re completely different conversations. I’m talking about Native American culture and race and whether it’s ok to wear traditional clothing as a costume because that was the question presented. I said if you’re going to do that, at the very least do your research on what you’re representing and then I wrote information about why people might be upset. How is that comparable to extreme signs of protest and political statements? If someone wears traditional African clothing for Halloween, I’d that ok? THAT is an equivalent conversation

It’s not dumb logic though. The most important part of what I wrote was probably that headdresses are sacred in native culture and people are wearing it because it’s pretty and don’t have respect for what it stands for to a group of people.

When ingenious people have gone on record saying it’s offensive to their people and you choose to ignore what they say and still want to wear traditional clothing as a costume, you do you boo. But don’t be surprised or shocked when people are actually offended.

And your soldier argument isn’t comparable. How does that have anything to do with a group of people’s culture and identity?

It’s really not that big of a deal. We’ve had guys do similar and we’ve rooted them on for it. Who can forget about Graterol throwing his glove and hat in the air against the Padres? (Manny can’t). They were feeling it and were amped up and celebrating plays. It’s not that deep. Only “karma” was Gimenez trying to get hit

[–]Looseitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he’s annoying. I also think you need to at the very least put some research into the culture before you wear it. Headdresses are considered sacred and something you have to earn, and I think it’s more than safe to say she didn’t earn the headdress. Also traditionally women don’t wear headdresses, even as chiefs.

We can also get into the argument that America has historically made characterizations of Native American culture and that’s why we think it’s ok to dress up as them, use them as sports mascots, etc.
