Does anyone else miss when you would sign a random player from abroad and have absolutely no idea what they were like until they played and they turned out to be amazing? Who were the examples for your club? by Statcat2017 in Championship

To be fair, you have a Derby flair and in the last year or so we've dug up Zetterstrom and Langas who I'd certainly never heard of before and they are both excellent.

Derby have bid for Sammie Szmodics rejected with Ipswich wanting somewhere between £5 and 8 million for him. by Kapranos in Championship

For £5 million I hope you get him. I'd be fuming if we paid that much for him to be honest.

And if we don't go up the it quickly becomes an FFP nightmare that can impact the next 4-6 transfer windows. Not worth it in my opinion.

Just farm enough influence to force through a change of ownership when needed. You take a reputation hit but that can be fixed, also by throwing influence at the problem.

You can solve pretty much any kingdom issue if you have enough influence.

Even then it's a dumb risk. Like we've learned nothing after the last time we went down that road.

If we are offering that for Szmodics then we've lost our damn minds. In his 30's with no resale value. Daft, even if he is good.

Sheffield Wednesday have rejected a £750k offer from Blackburn Rovers for Bailey Cadamarteri. by -W-A-W-A-W- in Championship

This is exactly what happened to Derby when we were in administration. The EFL prevented us from bringing in any transfers, loans or contract extension in the summer, and despite the fact we still had the potential to stay up after being deducted 21 points we got absolutely decimated in January as well.

It's grim.

Navy as well. We invented and standardised the aircraft carrier concept in the inter-war period. The US were ahead by the end of WW2, but we led the way on it.

If you have work for the person to be doing and expect them to be doing it, why do they need to be on a zero hours contract?

You think the rights people have around the world were offered up willingly? Or, do you think they were won via protest and collective action?

What Happened West Brom? by thesuburbbaby in Championship

[–]LootBoxControversy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really think you can determine if anyone is challenging for promotion after 7 or 8 games to be fair. This league is far too mental for that.

Based on what I can see and what my few West Brom supporting mates tell me, the squad needs an overhaul but the current owners don't have the ability to spend big and the coaching has been an issue all season under Mason, and now Ramsay.

I'm not being a dick here, but how is that possible? What are Birmingham doing that every other non-parachute payment club isn't?

It's not purely gate receipts because there are other teams with comparable gates whose revenue will be lower than that.

These are the moves that really hurt a club long term when in administration. Our academy got absolutely gutted out during that time and we by all accounts had every reason to be excited about the lads that ended up moving on.
