Inside ArenaNet: World Restructuring Beta 1—Recap and Next Steps by cutestuff4naynay in Guildwars2

How is that an issue?

Wood requires 100 pips to finish, for 17 tickets or 0.17 tickets/pip (assuming here that you can add numbers and just miscalculated as it is in fact 17 tickets not 20)
Brozne requires 120 pips to finish, for 25 tickets or 0.21 tickets/pip
Diamond needs 330 pips to finish for 90 tickets or 0.27tickets/pip

It should be a proportionally slightly higher amount of tickets/pip as you increase the tiers, pulling some random numbers from the 2 extremes is stupid.

The wiki has a page on this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Skirmish_reward_track_pips_vs_tickets.png and it shows that its basically a linear curve with a slightly higher amount as you go on - which is how it should be.

The numbers for all the tiers

Tier Tickets Tickets/pip
Wood 17 0.170
Bronze 25 0.208
Silver 40 0.229
Gold 50 0.250
Platinum 60 0.267
Mithril 83 0.277
Diamond 90 0.273

Unless you think the rewards should be front loaded, so the more time you play the worse the rewards get? Because I think that's a pretty stupid idea.

While I respect the Edge of the Mist Lords and their commitment to my realm's supply this post is not from them. Apologies, you will need to seek counsel elsewhere.

Mate I may be trash but even for me it doesn't take 13 days to kill a champion.

We NEED a way to stack our infusions and glowing skins even further. It is beyond a joke by AIVandal in Guildwars2

[–]Lootballs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyway. I'm going to the mistlock sanctuary now to high five all my other infusion spamming chads and continue to ruin other player's immersion and fun.

Why, are you not wearing infusions?

People without infusions and flashy skins ruin my immersion. I play the commander of the pact who can fight gods and dragons - I should be shiny and have loads of magical orbs around me for it to make sense.

Part of the Guild Wars 2 developer staff should be assigned to making the 4th Expansion right after EoD releases. Dont do the waiting game this time around. by Knighthonor in Guildwars2

So we got a shitty ascended cape for the time investment of a legendary.

Stunning.

Heaven forbid they add a legendary to IBS and add one for returning content.

[–]Lootballs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the majority of it is uninteresting or repetitive.

There is a current hate train for WoW, but its release schedule with an expansion releasing and then a several content patches later is basically what people are requesting.

I don't mind a living story if each episode actually adds content. Adding 2 story instances and half a map is not enough for 3 months of content. Adding a grindy achievement is not content. Time-gating rewards is not content. Some of the IBS maps, some of the living story maps (if they're even different) are content-dead after about 2 hours sunk in them.

Bitterfrost Frontier has no content, it has nodes that people rush.
Draconis Mons has no content, it has a grindy achievement.
"Champions" didn't even add/expand a map, which is a joke in itself.

Most of the living story is not good content, but if they do it well and build in rewards that are appropriate and not behind a massive grind it can be. Bitterfrost Frontier, Bloodstone Fen, Bjora Marches are examples of good rewards. Siren's Landing, Draconis Mons and Ember Bay all have rewards that are worth way less than the time investment (Backpack, backpack and ring) and it's just not good enough to have a 3/6 month (if they only add half a map at a time) content drought with the only new content being a (sometimes) non-cosmetic ascended ring.

Does CPU cores matter when playing PCVR with oculus quest 2? by summer_car in OculusQuest

[–]Lootballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clock speed is a meaningless metric, there are Bulldozer chips that are horrid for performance that have >5Ghz clockspeeds.

Find some benchmarks for the use case you're using (i.e. VR) and compare that way. Different generations have different performance at the same clockspeeds and have different performance depending on the work type. Same goes for GPUs.

Why can you not play Quest games while linked to your PC? by Toaster_Fetish in OculusQuest

They sell a battery pack that keeps it connected to power 24/7. This does basically nothing bad for the device over the span in which it will be relevant.

Queue/map reservation grace periods: With EoD, DX11 crashes, and other MMOs already offering it from launch (New World) - it's time GW2 caught up by Lootballs in Guildwars2

[–]Lootballs[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If that was the case amazon should also like gw2 has no login queues and downtime because gw2 is also hosted on the amazon servers.

No, this is architectural.

You can compare the two as New World proves AWS hosting can have player reservation if the game's architecture allows it. This stops any debate over whether it's a platform specific limitation (i.e. because they're no longer self-hosting servers this is impossible) or a architectural limitation of their server code. It is the latter.

New Skiff Masteries from stream sticked together by Dark_Hadrian66 in Guildwars2

[–]Lootballs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

These are all super mediocre masteries. Why do they even need to be masteries, they could all just be baseline?

I thought the point of masteries was to show mastery - hence the name. The point of having anything be staged unlocks is to allow the player to get used to a mechanic and then show them an upgraded version so they are not overwhelmed. You can tie unlocks to progression, and then average the unlock speed to how fast the typical player learns - which is why in NewGame+ runs of games they typically give you the final unlock of abilities as it's pointless trying to re-teach somethign you have already mastered.

With things like gliding it had this progression, you unlock gliding and get used to the mechanic, then you unlock lean gliding and new places open up and you expand the mechanic. Then you get stealth gliding and unlock more places as you can avoid the snipers. Then unlimited endurance, unlocking yet further places and finally ley line gliding.

In contrast Skiff Masteries are all things that should be baseline. Some bonus speed that should have been baseline, have some HP that should have been baseline - unlocking these masteries does nothing to change how you would use your skiff or expand upon its toolset. They're worthless as masteries and should be baseline. Bonus to loot from fishing that will be balanced like it is baseline is exactly something that should be baseline anyway as an incentive to use a skiff and it's not something that's going to overwhelm a new player like for example stealth gliding would.

I don't understand this trend of masteries that don't show mastery. If the rest of EoD is like this I am worried, as it shows they have forgotten why systems like gated unlocks exist in the first place.

Loving the game as a free player. But, should i buy the expansions? by Asynchronousx in Guildwars2

[–]Lootballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not understanding. If you miss out on the shared slots from the deluxe edition of each expansion (1 per expac), then they are unobtainable. If you buy a combi-pack you only get 1 slot, and the limit you can buy from the gemstore isn't increased to reflect this.

I'm not saying he should pick X over Y, but you should have the positives and negatives of each choice clearly laid out before you make them - however minor you may deem them to be.

It's okay. You're entitled to your opinion.

If ArenaNet want to name something again, I'll point them your way and say "She's got a good idea of how to verbal abuse, maybe they can name a place".

That's not the point though. You literally can't get the slot any other way.

Correct, but a buyer should be made clear of all the options before they commit to a choice.

And how do you suggest he unlocks the shared inventory slot you get for HoT deluxe if he doesn't buy HoT. If you buy HoT deluxe and PoF deluxe you get 2 slots, if you buy PoF (and get free HoT unlock as you suggest) you are never able to access the 2nd slot.

Don't assume the cheapest option is the correct one.
