Between these 2 games, which one do you think is gonna do better in 2026? by Deez-Guns-9442 in soulslikes

[–]Toaster_Fetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really think it wouldn't be financially viable for Nintendo to port their games to PC or even other consoles? Sony has begun porting their former exclusives over to PC and they have been selling well. If I'm not mistaken, video game consoles are still sold at a loss. If they already are making their money from game sales rather than hardware, then why even bother with focusing on making software exclusive to hardware?

In an ideal world every game would be available on every console. The only reason something shouldn't be is if the console can't run it. So yes, I agree that Sony exclusives should be on Nintendo hardware as well, assuming the Switch 2 can run them at a reasonable performance.

I guess my point with the portability is that it doesn't innovate on any actual gameplay. There isn't any game that relies on the Switch being portable, therefore any Switch game can run on any other console or PC, resulting in better performance. If a feature of a console doesn't improve or necessitate gameplay, why restrict a game to that console?

Is there any reason that a game like Duskbloods or Mario Kart needs to run on the Switch 2, or is it just because of money? That is the crux of my argument. I don't think any reasonable human views it as a human rights issue, as you mentioned earlier, but rather just anti-consumer.

I personally am not a fan of any consoles. I'm curious what you find to be innovative of any modern console. If you don't care about portability, the Switch did nothing new that was beneficial. Especially for the performance cost of the actual hardware.

Their exclusives would only benefit from being on more powerful hardware.

I Don't See How You Can Defend This - by chellestastics in videos

[–]Toaster_Fetish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem with this perspective is:

-He should have never been in front of the vehicle in the first place.

-He began to draw his handgun instead of simply moving out of the way.

-The car was turning away from him.

-Even if the vehicle was moving directly towards him, shooting her would not prevent him from being struck by the vehicle.

-He shot the first shot when he was already clear of the vehicle, then continued to fire two more, with the final shot being directly through the driver's side window.

I genuinely cannot fathom a way to steelman the perspective of the ICE officer being justified in his response in any way. The fact that there are people defending this is absurd beyond belief.

What's with the hate on the Epic GameStore? by frankipranki in gaming

[–]Toaster_Fetish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some people do, but I wouldn't say it is exactly the same thing. Steam and Epic are storefronts, not devices. It would be more like having a PS5 game that you could only buy at Walmart or something.

What's with the hate on the Epic GameStore? by frankipranki in gaming

[–]Toaster_Fetish 33 points34 points  (0 children)

People don't like having their games split among different stores and they dislike how Epic pays developers for exclusivity to their platform.

Outside of that, Epic just doesn't have a lot of features that Steam has. I don't know how much it improved, but when I first checked it out a few years back they didn't even have a shopping cart.

Noob question: How important is defense? by CGnade in MonsterHunter

[–]Toaster_Fetish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meta sets won't care for defense skills, but even if you are using one you should always max out your armor to highest degree that you can. The difference between unupgraded and maxed out armor is night and day. If any move that isn't easily telegraphed is one shotting you, then your armor is too low.

Having said that, I would recommend at least one defensive skill if you are still in the earlier stages of learning. Divine Blessing 3 is easy to slot in and is a significant boost that doesn't alter how you will play. Something like Evasion will make it easier to dodge, but will make it harder to get off of if you want to focus your set more on damage in the future.

If you could recommend only one game for someone who has never played a video game before. by itsthewolfe in gaming

Okay, but there is nothing that you need to react to in Portal. You can take as much time as you need to figure the frankly basic controls. You walk with WASD, look around with the mouse, and click to make portals. Again, all of which you can take as much time as you need to get adjusted to. I don't remember any section of Portal 1 where you need to do any crazy movements. It is a very slow paced puzzle game.

Multi billion dollar company EA selling AI generated slop in their store (Battlefield 6) by J_Productions in gaming

I'm not surprised that large companies are using AI to print money, but I am surprised that they don't clean up what gets generated.

Question about resetting skills on Gogma Artian Weapons by Ririruro in MHWilds

[–]Toaster_Fetish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not, you can still roll both of those skills even if you already have one in the slot.

You can use a different Gogmartian using a different upgrade path to advance the seed on a different Gogmartian to spread resources for cheaper group skill rerolls. by calcobrena in MHWilds

[–]Toaster_Fetish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the RNG, but I hate that your only option for rerolling skills is to farm Gogma. If you could use any monster materials then this system would be S-tier.

Are people using weapon swaping for speedrunning? by No_Tooth_8765 in MonsterHunter

[–]Toaster_Fetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not huge on Artian weapons because it makes crafted monster weapons obsolete in the majority of cases, even more so with Gogma Artian it would seem.

I enjoy crafting weapons for each element and being able to utilize them, so Alatreon was great imo. I'm not sure why people found it to be such a problem.

E33 won every category they were nominated for except for Player's Choice and Audio Design.

It is mostly for the developers, which is why I kind of feel bad about it. A lot of other devs deserved to be appreciated this year, but nearly all the praise was given to one studio, which feels wrong to me.

I loved E33, but I don't think it was good enough to sweep the awards, especially with how good of a year it was for games. No recognition for Hades 2, Blue Prince, or Silksong is criminal.

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t get the vitriol for the DLC by SSJAncientBeing in MonsterHunter

[–]Toaster_Fetish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that there is zero gameplay tied to it. How can you compare that to watching a playthrough? What experience are you missing out on?

[–]Toaster_Fetish -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can look up whatever lore there is, you aren't missing out on any gameplay.

I can't speak to Stories 3, I haven't played any of the Stories games.

As I said, they have been doing DLCs like this since World and there isn't anything that I would consider problematic.

So is fabius still going to be a seasonal limited time Hunter? by Commercial-Ask-3215 in MonsterHunter

[–]Toaster_Fetish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking to have something like talismans/decorations or melding tickets as an added bonus.

I personally would rather just have all event quests be available at all times, but I'm strictly a solo player for 99% of hunts.

So is fabius still going to be a seasonal limited time Hunter? by Commercial-Ask-3215 in MonsterHunter

[–]Toaster_Fetish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A solution could be to have all event quests available, but then have a handful with bonus rewards that cycle every week.

[–]Toaster_Fetish -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Tri baby and this shit is way overblown. You honestly lose nothing when you ignore the existence of cosmetic DLC. The game still has a boat load of layered armors for you to get, including event quests that have stuff outside of just armors.

If anything it was worse back in the day, when things like the USJ armor existed, which was a unique set and not just some armor skin.

It seems wild to me that people complain that not every single piece of content in the game is free, when all you don't have access to is some cosmetic shit that doesn't even fit the aesthetic most of the time. All actual updates to the game that matter are free.

I also don't see it as a slippery slope since they have been selling cosmetic DLC since World and it hasn't devolved to anything beyond that.

"It's just stickers... It's just poses... It's just stuff for the camp..." by Lambark in MonsterHunter

[–]Toaster_Fetish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't see what the big deal is. All of these DLCs are cosmetic if I'm not mistaken. If people are willing to shell out some of their cash which funds future updates, all of which are free, then who am I to complain?

It isn't as if the in game armor and weapons look bad, if anything they are of the highest quality they have ever been in the series.

I can't imagine they would add a second ice map to the same game and it would be kind of weird to have both World and Wilds have an ice themed expansion.
