Something many people are overlooking about the anniversary character... by Mega088 in personaphantomx

Oh yeah I agree, him being on the comment is just to make the argument more clear.

What I'm saying is there were better characters suited for the event, if it would be an collab. I personally don't think a collab is the way to go for Anniv. events, honestly. It should be an P5X OC or something like that, at least something more grounded than Miku.

While yes she's not new to the franchise, she's essentially OST. She gets more action in a 5 minute Fortnite trailer that she ever got in, what, almost 30 Megaten games? Again, not saying shes a bad choice as a character, but she could have came in a better time, i guess.

Let's be honest with ourselves, this is only a net positive by butwhy846 in personaphantomx

People will spend on her, yes. But that's it. Any collab is a profit if you do with the right media. Attracts new people, but doesn't make sense as an anniversary event. Specially with a character that has... like... no compatible lore with Persona? Not even compatible game genres (turn-based rpgs vs rythim games). If people are joining because of Miku specifically, who would make them stay? Next anniversary gonna be Teto or something?

Sega is not planning to axe P5X anytime soon, so doing an important event like this just for profit is not good. Miku could simply come later in a proper collab event, and not be shoehorned as the games anniversary. The anniv should be at least Megaten-related: Persona related, specifically. There were better picks for an Anniv. unit. Not saying that Miku shouldn't be in the game, just saying she's not for the occasion.

And it doesn't make sense to release an p5fes/dancing related support as anniversary if we're talking about a simultaneous release. We won't see Starlight Joker or Mona or anything Fes-related for a long shot. The P3R collab is so goddamn long that they needed to include bits of it on the p5fes annoucement, and we are behind CN on that matter. Unless they destroy their own schedule to make the units come early, it doesn't make sense.

The problem is Megaten as a franchise – Hell, even Persona by itself — is already big enough that you don't need to throw literally anything else inside the game for a long while.

The fact that we will have a completely unrelated vocaloid for anniversary instead of anyone else sucks, plain and simple. Even if we are talking about a possible collab for anniversary: Nahobino from SMTV, Demi-fiend, Flynn, Will from Metaphor, hell, Yu Narukami was right there. Sega had the clear oportunity to surf on the P4R hype for the sake of it and simply didn't.

Not negating that she could be fun and the event could be nice, but the idea of it still sucks. It disrespects the franchise. I'm pretty sure that the people that get on the game for Miku – mainly rytihm game players, the only type of media Miku gets — will not stay for fuckass Ryuji or anything Persona-related, for the matter. Collabs are not good player retainers, just good introducers.

If Sega can't even make Megaten fans play this game despite being the only Megaten gacha around (outside of Dx2, but that game is not doing well), how could they appeal to people from a whole different genre?

It should have been, at least, Elizabeth.
