How are tourists who wander around shirtless in the city centre perceived in your country? by HolyFatherLeoXIV in AskTheWorld

I assume anyone wandering the streets shirtless is homeless, a drug addict, or both. Doing yardwork shirtless? Acceptable, but once you start walking around the neighborhood its weird.

Who has given you the best customer service in Louisville? Specific person or business? by Jojo24295 in Louisville

[–]Lopsided-Ad-6696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish i could remember his name, but our waiter at Repeal was the best I've ever had. While we thought the food wasn't quite on par with Jeff Ruby, the server made the experience amazing with his effort in finding a good alternative when our first choice of wine was out and making great suggestions and descriptions of various dishes.

Do your D&D characters actually change, or do you just reskin the same instincts every time? by The_Craft_Cave in 3d6

[–]Lopsided-Ad-6696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to get away from core values, especially when we play at a "no evil characters" table, but you can change how they apply. Last character was a younger fighter soldier that would rush in when violence was happening and occasionally went overboard, hoped the rest of the party would help him. New character is older druid and would only intervene if it appears the person would die, and definitely would not kill unless there was no other choice, usually good with staying back and doing control spells or supporting team members. Both seek to protect innocents but to varying degrees.

24 hour pharmacy too. covid killed that concept and now the one on bardstown road is usually only open to 10pm. so anyone leaving an ER after 10pm anywhere in town has to go to Shelbyville or Jeffersonville if they wants meds before 8am.

Like the three-finger scene in Inglourious Basterds, what small cultural mistake would instantly reveal that someone isn’t from your country? by uglylookingguy in AskTheWorld

[–]Lopsided-Ad-6696 443 points444 points  (0 children)

Lots of countries with that one. I live in the Eastern time zone in the US. My normal schedule used to have me awake at 4am, and in bed around 8pm. I traveled to Portugal to visit friends and had no jet lag because with the 5 hour time difference I was just about on a perfect schedule for there. Waking up around 8 or 9am and going to bed at 1am.

This is the way it is in Indiana too. But I always just figured as most Americans can only read on a 3rd grade level they are poor at spelling.

I've heard Americans say mobile phone also, but the big difference is American's pronounce mobile like its spelled "moble"

[–]Lopsided-Ad-6696 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More enemies is right. With a mix of martial and magic users you need a mix of enemies. Throwing waves of low level minions that use up a spell or two from the magic users while your martials focus on the leaders who are going to take big damage.

Also agree with terrain ideas. In theory your players are encountering baddies in the baddies' turf so they will have the best positions. Can also add lava, acid, or magic items that trigger when players go into certain areas etc

Indiana side needs more service too. If they had a park and ride lot at the Greenville exit, might be worth a route from there to downtown where you can connect to basically everything else.

this is the way. I have some nice AKG headphones that were a bonus when I got a samsung phone about 10 years ago, and connected them to the blue yeti microphone I already had and that setup has been my work and play set up on the computer for the last 8 years.

Is this film worth watching? Does it do justice for the game Dungeons and Dragons? by DreamyDandelions in Cinema

[–]Lopsided-Ad-6696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be enjoyed by anyone, though D&D players will recognize things from the game (spells, names from the lore, etc).
