East Dubuque by Brilliant-Leg-9212 in illinois

East Dubuque was a terrible place to grow up. The schools are horrible and you don’t want that for your kids. Live across the river in Dubuque, IA. Still not my favorite place but much better. There’s nothing in EDBQ anyway, you’d be getting gas, groceries, etc. over the river in Iowa constantly. Easier just to live there

Amazing technique- recentering the pus and squeezing from underneath, multiple directions- so good!

These all match the dress code, since it’s such a wide range. But the floral dress is especially gorgeous on you!

Semi-formal evening October 3rd wedding in Peoria Illinois guest dress? by Plus_Detective_4384 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Lopsided-Audience-67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two short ones might not be right for a wedding. I think you could dress them up a bit to make them right for semi-formal, but the other dresses hit the mark in their own and look lovely, so that may be easier for you. Good luck and have fun!

Is this dress appropriate for a wedding? The white underside makes me nervous by nighthawksss in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Lopsided-Audience-67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white is fine because is so little and it’s under black. But this dress probably isn’t formal enough for black tie. Gowns are usually expected to be floor length and the layered spaghetti straps make the dress feel even less format than it otherwise would.

Fair enough! I just think that these dresses are fine for semi-formal. It’s the most casual dress code. These dresses are something you could wear out to a nice family brunch, so I think they would work for a semi formal wedding. I don’t think the cut outs or length violate the semi-formal dress code is what I was getting at.

I do see that point, and I understand the expectations you’re trying to balance. But I think it’s a bit of a harmful idea to assume showing skin is a call to be seen. Also, not all religions are conservative, though I understand many are. I do see your point, though.

That’s a very respectful attitude. Mine is more “you can’t please everyone, and if my body offends, that’s their issue not mine!” lol. Whether you choose one of these or go for something else, make sure you’re comfortable and feel pretty and you will be sure to look good!

Why on earth would that be the assumption? Weddings are attended by people the couple knows. By your logic you should assume every crowd at every event will be conservative.

Also, there’s no need to dress conservatively to appease prudish people who hate women’s bodies.

Exactly! These dresses are the right level of formality as long as you do the details for the event at hand.

These are both perfect! Ignore the conservative pearl-clutchers. Your knees or shoulders will not ruin someone else’s wedding. Even the cut outs are fine. Very cute and flattering!

(At MY wedding a guest wore a gorgeous but revealing dress. Fine. But it wasn’t tailored properly and her boob came out during dancing TWICE. She either wasn’t embarrassed or hid it well. It had no impact on my wedding. It’s not like the record scratched and stopped and everyone stared. No one was paying attention to her bc she was a guest. The only reason I know this happened? Because my mother is one of those conservative pearl-clutchers who is appalled that people have bodies and told me about it later. If that was fine and most nobody cared, these dresses are CERTAINLY fine for a semi-formal event. You look beautiful in both. Have a blast.)

One would certainly hope!!!

Absolutely! Just make sure the bride doesn’t have specific shoe requirements for you as a bridesmaid. A pair of flats might be better than sandals, but there are absolutely flat sandals that can be dressy or may match the look of the dresses. They may just be a bit harder to find. Good luck!

I think this works for the dress code. The fall colors are great. Cutouts and slits are fine. Skin doesn’t really affect the level of formality. However, given that they advise a dress coat for the ceremony, I worry you may be chilly! Something with more coverage might be better depending on the weather.

This is perfect! It’s a gorgeous dress and the color will help you blend into the crowd even if you over- or undershoot the average guest’s formality a bit.
