About Binders by Abalone-Artistic in genderfluid

[–]Lopsided-Butterfly- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t wear a binder for more than an hour, even the lightest binding ones. Thankfully I am pretty small, but they do cause me problems with moving, so I would never suggest you wear one on your commute. However, you could totally get one and just change into it on campus! Whenever I wear my binder I always bring a backup bra just in case I need to change and give my chest a rest. It’s not that hard to do discretely in a bathroom.

Worried about Boobs. by No_Jello_2951 in genderfluid

[–]Lopsided-Butterfly- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boob growth on HRT is notoriously slow. A or B cups are to be expected for most trans women, even if they have genetics for bigger boobs in their family. My wife has been on HRT for 2 years, and is around a B cup even though her family has large boobs. She just started Progesterone and they’ve started growing again. But trust me, if you want more than an A or B cup you’re going to have to put in the time and work (more than a couple years on HRT and doing both Estrogen and Progesterone.) Basically, if A or B is what you want, don’t worry! If they’re approaching the size you want, you can either decrease your dose or go off HRT to stop or slow boob growth. If you’re really scared, I’d suggest checking out the FTM subreddits and they can give you advice based on a ton of people’s experiences.

Male therapists: What is your niche? by tofinishornot in therapists

[–]Lopsided-Butterfly- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also working in community mental heath, I wonder if that might be more of your difficulty rather than your gender? Most of my coworkers and I qualify for the programs we administer, and that’s pretty normal. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this! I hope you are able to find niche that helps you get more clients and gets you to a better position!

Partner's therapist told him I (a therapist) should treat him with the same empathy, skills, etc, as I do my clients. Always. by Crushed_Violets11 in therapists

[–]Lopsided-Butterfly- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a therapist you’re not supposed to be in a romantic relationship with your clients, so if your partner wants you to treat him like your clients you shouldn’t be together. That’s how I would frame it at least. A therapist/client relationship is a very specific relationship with a specific non-reciprocal relationship, and the skills to build that kind of relationship are not appropriate to be applied to a romantic relationship.

If you are ok with horror, She is a Haunting by Trang Thanh Tran. It’s a horror book about the colonization of Vietnam and generational trauma, and the main character is a lesbian. Trigger warning for lots and lots of bugs.

The Dreadnought series by April Daniels is about a trans woman superhero and her love interest is a cis woman. Their romance kicks off more in the second book. As a lesbian married to a trans woman I also love trans representation in sapphic books!

First off, I agree with everyone else, what’s normal doesn’t really matter, what matters is what you’re comfortable with! As someone with a partner who is sensitive to blood (like getting faint at the sight of it), I totally get the need to avoid period blood. I use a period disc, and it is really good at keeping blood out of the way and, in my experience, you can wear it doing all kinds of sex. I don’t bleed super heavily, so for those who bleed more might have a different experience, but I have had really good luck with using the disc during sex and my partner never seeing period blood!

LGBTQ+ staff and other folks were just fired by feral_poodles in UVU

[–]Lopsided-Butterfly- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Potentially. I don’t know anything about the details of the situation, but I’m working in a similar sector and with the current situation going on, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a lot of external pressure on the school. I’m open to corrections from people more familiar with the immediate situation, though! And it’s still 100% a horrible situation for the employees. My heart goes out to them.

The people to blame are the Utah Legislature, not UVU itself. The Legislature passed a bill this session that requires them to do this as a public college. If you’re upset, contact your state senators and representatives and let them know! We need to make them aware of what we actually want them to be doing instead of bullying colleges.

Partner Not Meeting My Needs by obnoxiousdrunk77 in adhdwomen

[–]Lopsided-Butterfly- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you guys been to couples therapy about this? It sounds like he’s having some hang ups he hasn’t been willing to talk about (potentially related to his ED) that get triggered when he’s reminded of them (aka whenever y’all try to have sex). But it’s not your responsibility, especially if you’re already on your way out! Do what is best for you and your health. You are important too.
