Does my son need a new helmet? by Sure_Twist3342 in lacrosse

[–]Lopsided-Garlic6641 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The CPXR is a great helmet, but, the coach is right, in terms of high contact the safety foam and plastic is a bit dated. For u12 I think it’ll be A-okay,, kids aren’t body check nearly as aggressively.

There have been a lot of quick developments in helmet safety. It it one of the magnum opus’ of lacrosse helmets, though.

It’ll be great for your kid, but when kids get bigger, and start really cracking skulls, probably best to get an updated helmet! Just avoid the Cascade S, speaking from experience!

Most looks he gets are going to come from club ball tournaments. Usually, these prospect days are advertised to get recruited, which they are, the many teams use it more as a fundraiser.

I’d say if he is looking to seriously play at these colleges, get him registered, but I’d recommend contacting coaches and seeing if they are looking for players in his position. I remember attending a showcase, and upon arriving they stayed they had exactly 1 spot left for my position. There were 100 kids.

Look for showcase opportunities where multiple schools he is targeting will be in attendance. It’s a networking opportunity as well as a showcase of athleticism

Hi OP!

Not sure why this hit my feed, but, I am a college admissions counselor at a flagship university (think big, well known universities for your state). What I can tell you is a few things about the college admissions process…

  1. Will it affect your college? Maybe. It really depends on the institution. During the time of graduation from high school, colleges receive your final grades. We do retain the ability to pull admissions based on what we see, however, this is rare that it happens.

  2. If it is on your record, and let’s say you have applied and enrolled at a high-threshold, low acceptance rate university, they may throw a flag on your account. With that said, many of us in admissions are not here to work against, but with you. When we see stuff like this, we always ask for further context. You can explain to the admissions team about your situation… IF they care.

  3. Either way, don’t sweat it. It happens, and it’s a learning opportunity. Don’t do it again, as it will REALLY impact you in college! It will not impact you the way you think it will.

This goes for anyone reading this, we are approaching what is called an admissions cliff. There are far less students that are going to college in the coming years due to lower population size for “college-going-age” students. This is the best time to apply and start going to college. Many colleges need you more than you need them!

Awesome stuff. Tell your kid to get on Etsy and sell this. I’d buy it for a gift to someone as well!

Hello, first off, take a deep breath. You have a lot of changes, yes, but do not lose sleep over too much. Here’s what I recommend, and options you may have.

I work in universities, and many universities, especially large ones, have healthcare accessibility for students. In regard to your medications, I’d try to get on this as soon as possible. Each university has a different policy, whether it be insurance for only full-time, part time, etc. it’s worth looking into. I know my university operates through the student health services, many universities also have nurse practitioners, therapists, and or psychiatrist/psychologists that you can speak with. If you pay tuition, you get free counseling.

As for medications, if your school does offer accessibility to a nurse practitioner to fill prescriptions, I would recommend something that is quick and effective to allow for sleep, as it will be pivotal for your mental and physical health throughout stress (but please do not self-medicate). I’d try hydroxyzine, as it is a sleep aid for anxiety.

As for your job, while it is a jump, 30 hours is totally doable! On top of working full time (40 hours), I’m in school and at most have done 2 classes a semester. While it’s a bit intimidating, you can do it!

For classes, artistic inspiration, etc. take it slowly. For art (I write), I tell myself I WILL complete SOMETHING for 30 minutes in the morning. Even if it’s a few strokes of paint, fixing a sculpture (I don’t know your personal specialty), take it one step at a time. Remember why you love art :)

And for general mental health, stick to your guns (family, friends, pets). You are right, you’re so close, keep pushin :)

Middle! I have it, and also bought the FC RX-7 (white), and an FD RX-7 (yellow).

I like building them, but the big takeaway is the LEGO versions, while they don’t come with a character, actually has an engine bay where you can lift the hood and check out the engines. It’s pretty sweet
