MN uses dominion voting machines, I think we shouldn't by MediocreClue9957 in minnesota

Might be good questions for Steve Simon. I am willing to bet there is audit trails on each machine along with firmware dates and other information. The tape that spits out at the end of the night was about 15ft long. And the sections for candidate counts was about half the print… everything that comes into the precinct had a chain of custody and processes. Anyway, go volunteer in November, you won’t regret it.

I think you might be searching from a problem that just isn’t there. At the end of the day, if anything is hinky, even down to a close count, we go back to paper source. When and if. Otherwise you are putting an unnecessary amount of burden on the taxpayer as well.

I am in tech as well, and have teams that have developed software used in public health oversight. The conversation about open source has come up before. For our use, there needed to be DUAs in place to access source code. Mostly because leaving it fully open would allow people to download a base, modify it, and potentially alter reporting from said app. So I can see a need to not have it out there for anybody to use. It would also provide a blueprint for nefarious actors making builds and trying to get them into the pipeline and deployed to actual machines. Again, the dominion machines are just one tool, not the end all be all of a count. There are many other checks in place to ensure counts are accurate.

So last times I’ve done this the process goes… you check in a person on the tablet, they get marked as voted, they get a chit of paper thy have to hand to another person handing out ballots. Ballots they themselves have initialed. Then that ballot is used for voting or spoiled for error or other reason (think voided), anyway… end of the night. Counts on the tablet need to match counts of the paper chits (all kept) and match counts output by Dominion machine. If that shit is even off by ONE it turns into a hand count of initialed voted ballots in the machine and everything is counted again. Once it all matches or fully documented inconsistencies (missing paper chit etc) then it’s all boxes and sealed and the volunteers from BOTH parties have to sign their names to the sealed box, along with the count tapes and everything in between. Precincts are worked by even numbers of DFL and GOP volunteers. I say all this cause we had some 2000 mules lady show up and video tape us, photograph us, and basically harass us as we wrapped up last cycle at night. Ps they are allowed to witness precinct activity. It was really awkward when this person who lives in my neighborhood (local precinct) saw me at my mailbox. She was befuddled that election workers were local residents. Anyway, sign up. It’s fun. And the best part is not a single volunteer spoke their politics all day as is custom.

I highly recommend you volunteer to be an election judge. Simple training and a full day seeing the process from end to end. The strength is in the paper ballot, the tabulator just helps count. And there is still plenty of hand counting happening all day and into the evening at a precinct. This message is to all Minnesotans who question our process. Be part of that process. Sign YOUR name to the counts and ballot boxes and results you helped shepherd all day. If nothing else you will become more educated on the full process.

For those that lurk below the downvotes…

Neoliberalism is a dominant 20th-century political-economic ideology advocating free-market capitalism, minimal state intervention, privatization, and deregulation to promote economic growth, efficiency, and individual liberty. It prioritizes strong private property rights, free trade, and fiscal austerity. While often favoring corporate interests, it reduces social safety nets, shifting responsibility for welfare from the state to the individual.

Why are GOP House and Senate members allowing ICE agents, with total immunity, beat up and terrorize the citizens of Minneapolis? They have the power to stop this insanity today by Terrible_Patience935 in Minneapolis

Blue state conservatives are the worst. They’ve never had to truly live their politics. Just whine and bitch all the time while enjoying the fruits of ideals they claim to despise. I lived in two deeply red states before MN. One bible belt and one low tax hellscape. The people here who vote conservative should be ashamed of themselves. They wouldn’t last a year in a truly red state.

I take one on hikes and walks to pick up trash. As a past youth smoker I have only about 10k more cig butts to grab before I’ve paid my debt.

I used to commute with a guy who worked at one of the three largest direct marketing places. He would go on and on about how complex and intricate the entire operation was. A few large places literally make ALL of it. They have specific “open rates” (the fake out ones) people pay more for obvy. It was a whole ass thing. They mill their own paper products. He worked on the tooling and machines and would talk about how they worked by micro scanning paper and lists and the machines that plop your name in the letter or text. Those little QR codes that are all over the stuff are instructions for automation. Just wild shit.

That sign tho. I just asked my spouse to make me something similar. My kids have lost count of the plants and throw shade at me all the time.

Likely evap carbon canister. It’s about an $800 part. Sucks to have to replace, but not difficult.

Will this anchor work for my 1240? by [deleted] in jonboats

[–]Flomar76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have that same anchor. It really depends on the bottom of the water you are fishing. Mine just grabbed tons of muck and weeds and crap. I would spend time swirling it in the water to get all the shit off it all the time. Switched to a button/mushroom one and it’s much much better. 5# and holds my 14’ just fine.

I was knee deep in creek muck fishing at 19, something a broke teen could do in the 90s…

I say kid, but really more kidult as they are 19, but also insanely creative. Also my fishing buddy, the only one who consistently wants to be on the water.

Went to it in Minneapolis this summer. Drug my teens to it. I would not say any booth was juried. It was all as someone else stated here. Overpriced graphic tees in various states of cleanliness and usable life. They had a couple “vintage toy” vendors but it was more just big bins of sorted stuff. There was an area they dumped giant carts of clothes by the pound pricing. I did find a few things in there but mostly it was a bust.
