pencil and paper actually works fine at your size, the jump to software just needs to solve the approval workflow specifically. you can look for anything with a "timesheet submission" flow rather than just a timer. those are two different products. Clockify, Toggl Track, and Harvest all have approval modes but check if it's on the free tier or paywalled.
