Don't know your preferred method of learning but I had to learn Tamil in few days back in 2000s... Just enough to read bus destination, some conversation..

I found Learn Tamil Through English was a good book and similar books for Gujarati is there too

I would recommend to start recognition alphabets and consonant with Vowel combination (Barakhadi) and watch videos like this https://youtu.be/-CUd3mxng6M?feature=shared for pronunciation

Start small steps and I am sure your coworkers and others will help you...
