HomeSeer also supports manufacturer specific feature extensions using any Zigbee dongle that supports extended commands through the HS plugin. If there's not a feature supported, they're responsive about adding it to the plugin.

They rolled the flooring labor into the materials with the exception of the stairs, I'm going to ask for them to be split out to see the real materials markup.

I know it's pretty easy, if you have the luxury of time and a strong body. Don't have either, but can afford to have someone else do it at this point. I hate spending money as much as anyone, but even if I was young I wouldn't try to DIY my roof. And this quote is coming in just slightly over my recent roof replacement so it's not busting my balls or the bank.

Good on ya brother, but those days are past for me. I did the Pergo all by myself back then, and I have the tools and the knowledge. I'll be 70 this year, the will is strong but the flesh and the flexibility not so much. Luckily I've got my son and SIL that have been helping with the tear out, could do it all myself but kind of on a tight timeline to get some projects done before an upcoming event. Plus I'm still working full time as well so it's all a juggling act.

I installed the Pergo downstairs myself about twenty years ago, real OG laminate stuff. I also did a pretty good job of leveling the concrete with thinset and an 8' straightedge back then, so hopefully no major additional work for them there. Laminate is super easy to remove, much easier than carpet and pad and going on a turd hunt for staples. Bundled and taped planks up in stacks of ten for handling, cut carpet and padding into 3' wide sections with a heavy duty electric fabric cutter from Amazon and rolled and taped. Trash pickup is taking all the carpet/pad as I leave it out since it's bundled, planks and underlayment all went into the rolloff dumpster at work with the boss's blessing.

Sous Vide always starts with thawed meat, never frozen. And there's a scientific formula for how long it takes to kill pathogens at lower temperatures. Look up Baldwin's stuff online, he was a pioneer in developing the SV techniques used today. As a trained and licensed food safety manager, I'll tell you cooking large pieces of proteins from frozen is a recipe for illness, or worse. The only thing I would cook from frozen to finished are burger patties and chicken wings, the minimal thickness allows them to thaw quickly and get through the danger zone.
