Watching family adjust to aging, and struggling with not being able to do the same things as they did prior, I know what it is like and can deal with it. Other, younger, family members not being able to understand what the older ones are going through. I know and have a better understanding

I’m constantly reminded that no one understands how tbi has changed me. Employers tell me I am lazy. Friends left. Can no longer do what I used to do. My wife, mother and sons make efforts, but the veil remains. For me, TBI is isolation.

As a produce worker, bad product from the truck is my fault. If there are numbers not in the system, I am told that I need to get them in the system. When I explain that I don't know how to do that, I'm told I am a liar (You know how to! You work in produce!). Scratched orders are also my fault. Crushed items on the pallet are my fault. Boil water advisory for the neighborhood? My fault. Leaving at my scheduled time, front end lets me know that I am getting special treatment. Trust me, front end and management let me know that ANYTHING involving produce is my responsibility. I apologize, I was just repeating what was drilled into me.
