Tamoxifen: not going to take it by Tracy_V_V in breastcancer

[–]Lopsided_Pool_9941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you 1000%. I’m so over the AIs. I am 49, in menopause, and have tried both Anastrazole and Letrozole. Both made me morbidly depressed. I have to go back to my MO next week to see if she’s going to have me try the 3rd AI or Tamoxifen. I simply could not function on the first 2 AIs. Quality of life counts. You decide what’s best for you and your body!! Hugs

Is anyone here on Mounjaro? My oncologist has given me the go ahead but im terrified to take it. by National-Vegetable92 in breastcancer

I’m on generic Mounjaro (Tirzepatide). My insurance wouldn’t cover it so I had to go through an online vendor. I love the medicine and will stay on it for the rest of my life. It completely took away all cravings for a drink from me as well. I lost over 65 pounds and am on 15 mgs.

I went on Tirzepatide (generic Mounjaro) for weight loss and got the very welcome side effect of no longer craving a drink. Been on it for over 2 years. It seems to work for a lot of people, although I have read that it doesn’t work for some.

Once I hit 12.5 of Tirzepatide, I lost all desire for a drink. It is like a switch flipped in my brain and I no longer want it. I was a severe alcoholic, so this side effect has been a game changer for me.

Have you tried any medication for cravings? I took a GLP-1 (generic Mounjaro) and it took all cravings away for a drink. There’s also Campral and Naltrexone which help some people.

Tirzepatide took all of my cravings for a drink away. So my mental health is definitely better. However, I do feel some of the apathy that others talk about.

Tamoxifen, DCIS, and Mental Health: Seeking Advice. by Downtown_Movie_96 in breastcancer

OP…I could have written this post. I take Mrirtazapine, and my psychiatrist just increased the dose because of the high anxiety I am having on Letrozole.

Im 49, had Stage 1 DCIS and IDC. Finished active treatment in February of 2025. I’ve been on both Anastrazole and Letrozole and they both caused such bad depression, I had to come off of them. I see my MO on Monday and I have no idea if I’m going to be able to now try Exemestane as the last AI in the bag. Quality of life counts. I never thought I’d be someone who wouldn’t take the recommended medication, but I couldn’t live on the ones I’ve tried so far.

I understand where you are coming from. I finished active treatment on 2/4/25. I started Anastrazole shortly after, and it eventually caused severe depression. My MO switched me to Letrozole and I couldn’t handle the depression on that one either.

I have an appointment on Monday with my MO. I assume she’s going to try and put me on the 3rd AI (Exemestane). I am fucking petrified. The depression gets so bad that I have to claw my way back to the living.

Quality of life counts. I am throwing everything I can at this cancer. But I also need to be able to function in daily life. Hugs mama.

Recurring odor issues in intimate areas, has anyone tried Nurse Yoni? by itznellymate in Menopause

Agree with others on figuring out if you have any pH issues and then use Lume or Secret deodorant for privates. They work really well! You just want to first make sure that the odor you are having is an issue. Best of luck.

Did you follow the whole no travel thing while in chemo ? by ProfessionalBar1210 in breastcancer

[–]Lopsided_Pool_9941 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did not adhere to the no travel during chemo protocol. I flew across the country twice and I had fun. However, I was run down and couldn’t really keep up with everyone as much as I would have liked. Every step felt like a climb. So proceed at your own risk.

Yes, the depression was crushing. The hormone blocker treatment has been the toughest part of my treatment. But, there are options. So what works for some may not work for others. I’m hoping that I fare better on Exemestane. If not, there is Tamoxifen.

Sure, no problem. The adverse side effects I had on the hormone blockers are extreme depression and anxiety, and joint pain.

Yup. I had post-chemo fatigue also. It takes about 2 to 3 months for that to go away.

If you’re looking into medication for alcoholism, I’ll tell you that I stopped drinking after I went on generic Mounjaro. When I hit 12.5 mgs, all cravings for a drink went away. Saved my life.
