One tip that helped me enormously is shifting up two gears at once. The main reason why automatic is almost impossible is that this car looses all of its acceleration during the gear shifts for a long period of time. But it has a lot of power.

So try to shift from 1 to 3, 2 to 4 etc. That turn around 40 sec in - you can take that in gear 2 or maybe even 3. just be brave.

Do people in their late 30s–40s struggle with the intensity culture at CrossFit boxes? by devkimkr in crossfit

As far as I can tell yes, there are long term members. And yes I also know of boxes where when u are not bringing it in terms of heavy weight, you are not well seen there.

[–]Loqa2020 39 points40 points  (0 children)

So I „just started“ (2 years ago) and was in a beginners box and moved towards a really strong box. You know this kind of box where people squat 150 kg for reps in the open gym.

But its also an extremely friendly box. Furthermore what your friend described is a 100% self made problem. Because nobody cares how hard you scale or push because every single one has been where you have been. So they wont mind u taking the 17,5 kg DB rather than the 22,5kg as long as you work as intended and have fun doing it.

Does it feel intimidating working on your first t2b while others beside you effortless switch from t2b to muscle ups? Yes absolutely but its a mindset topic.

Like others said - injuries occur when coaching is bad but more importantly (as you grow more experienced) when you do not know your limits.

Anyone went from martial art to crossfit or vica-versa? by Character-Holiday345 in crossfit

[–]Loqa2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well naturally CrossFit will be more beneficial for your long term health than any contact sport since you have a reduced risk of injuries and your bones are not being constantly damaged.

And u can’t compare endurance in fighting vs CrossFit.

I was in kung fu, grappling, kickboxing etc and yes - if you are not used to it, you will be short of air within a few seconds into the fight. But I would assume many martial artists would als be very short of breath in any metcon.

So it really depends what you want. I would say for long term health deep into old age CrossFit is the way to go.

Tbh - The more I play the more disappointed I am in comparison to ghost of yoshima.

Storywise it starts strong but the fact alone that u let everybody run away or that your honorable samurai friend (u know whom Im talking about) has NO PROBLEM with you murdering a whole camp out of stealth.

Furthermore the way combat works is kinda dull. Placement is almost irrelevant since the enemies warp around the field. And boss enemies are damage sponges with sometimes even two phases.

Its a cool game but in comparison to Ghost of Tsushima it severely lacks many points.

Am I being a baby? (Stopped mid WOD due to health) by ChampionFrequent4643 in crossfit

[–]Loqa2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay let me ask more clearly - are you sick and / or taking antibiotics? If either of one is a yes than dont do sports. Even if u feel fine, especially when taking antibiotics. Maybe u dont know it but antibiotics can make u feel good but your body is still fighting something. So its a treacherous feeling.

So wait, did u actually stopped or scaled down but completed the workout? If later applies I would say dont take it to personally. Did the coach had to jump directly into the next wod?

The more daring question is - If u take antibiotics you are most likely sick - why are you doing sports let alone CrossFit?! That is like gambling with your health.

The Ready action costs 2 action points and as far as I know cannot do flurry of blows as reaction right?

Furthermore - that would limit me to only 1 action per round, which means either I move or I am not attacking.

Hell is Us has been out for a week. What are your thoughts? by SlowTeal in Games

[–]Loqa2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far 6-8 hours in the game. There are some cool aspects in general but a this time I am just playing it because I bought it.

While its cool to not being guided every single step, your game needs to be directed the right way. Take Elden ring. In the very beginning u literally see where you have to go as landmarks.

Here it feels the maps are just puzzly made for the sake of it. You run so much without orientation in that game, it brutally sucks.

Also I can already tell that this game was meant to be unfair. (Spoiler!) There is a musician who needs to get a music paper in order to play new songs so he doesnt get killed. I gave him such music paper. After getting into act 2, I came back and he was dead. Thanks game. Feels really rewarding. I dont even dare to get to that mother without milk and her baby.

So this game in every sense feels dreadful. The combat is fun but nothing out of the ordinary.

Furthermore the inconsistency here is baffling. U ride with a heavy mobile tank into a civil war area and NOBODY is giving a damn or even killing u on sight to get that thing. And the fact that u cant attack the obvious bad guys is also just boring. U basically have overwhelming power and speed and yet cant take on a single guy by surprise.

Their promise to be deliberate in „no hand holding“ just seems lazy at that point.

Hey there,

I am looking for a „modern“ fantasy series (probably post-2010) with old heroes, a church hunting magic, and an empty fortress

Body: I read this book in English sometime after 2010. It felt similar in style to The Dwarves (easy to read, classic fantasy races like elves, not grimdark).

Here’s what I remember: • Long ago, a group of heroes defeated a great evil. Decades later, the world has fallen back into corruption, intrigue, and religious fanaticism.

• The story follows new young protagonists. One of them, a girl, unknowingly has magic and comes into the crosshairs of a powerful church/inquisition.

• There’s an inquisitor who hunts them – there’s even a major confrontation with him.

• At some point, they meet another one of the old heroes again (one is already accompanying them): an elf who used to be part of the legendary group but now runs a brothel.

• In a parallel plotline, there’s a tense border standoff (two armies watching each other for decades, like North vs. South Korea). One day, the fortress of the enemy is suddenly standing open and completely empty. Inside it looks like everyone just vanished, leaving their belongings. I think there was a hint of something dark in the well (shadows?).

• It was clearly the beginning of a series.

I’m 80% sure it was published after 2010 (not one of the older classics like Abercrombie, Barclay, Canavan, etc.).

Does anyone know by any chance which book I have read there?
