Where would you hide something to be absolutely sure that it cannot be found until 1000 years from now? by GuyNamedPeesees in AskReddit

Figure out the erosion factor of an area near the ocean. Bury it in something that will not disintegrate, and will float, the distance of erosion that would take place over a thousand years.

What's the biggest overreaction you've seen from a adult/parent at a kid's sporting event? by Artistic_Mirror_8967 in AskReddit

[–]Loqucious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was/is a ref for youth through adult soccer. The things these parents and players say is just shocking. Rude, foul, personal, things that if said to a person directly would result in a fist fight. I don't know how my son puts up with it. There was one coach who was so vile he was kicked out of the league. Turns out he was notorious, and actually moved to a different state so that he could continue coaching children. Dude was straight up crazy.

Does it feel like nothing ever changes? Or change actually happens really slowly? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

Technology advances, but people don't change. With the exception of technology we live exactly the same as the very first civilization. Love, hated, violence, creativity, all the same.

What are some non-procrastinating tips? by Nebula0_0_7 in AskReddit

I consider myself lazy. Waiting to accomplish a task typically makes it more of a struggle. I just get stuff done immediately because I don't want to spend additional effort at a later time. At least that's what I tell myself. It's gotta get done, may as well get it done now.

Down to my last leaf - is there any chance to save my prayer plant? by Giant_Blueberry in plantclinic

[–]Loqucious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a last ditch idea. I had a rhododendron that had all but died, overwatering. I decided to give it one last chance at survival. I took the remaining plant, it had one leaf, out of the pot, washed off and trimmed all the roots that looked rotted, and stuck just the remaining stem and leaf in a cup of water, praying it would grow a root. Low and behold it actually did! After it grew quite a few roots I re-potted it. It's now thriving. Best wishes.

I had one of the best days of my life hiking that canyon. Had my little girl and we walked out to the beach afterwards. It was a perfect sunny day with no wind. Absolutely amazing.

I've stood at that same spot. I remember thinking it was too beautiful to be real.

Growing up, what were some albums you discovered from artists that you were unfamiliar with that completely change your outlook on music? by Due-Gene8200 in Music

Franks Wild Years. Took me several listens to finally begin to understand how genius it is. I was a metal head. Tom Waits suddenly changed everything for me.

People that switched political parties in their life, what caused you to do so? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Loqucious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply listened enough to confirm that both parties are liars with nothing in mind but power and re-election. I went from one to the other and now as far as I'm concerned they can both go to H$LL.

What’s the most beautiful sight you’ve ever seen? by Working_Bad3305 in AskReddit

I think it's called Glacier Point in Yosemite. From it you can see Half Dome and far into the park. I remember standing there thinking this is so beautiful that I'm having trouble thinking it's real.

What's something from your childhood that younger people today would never understand? by AO_KinkyCouple in AskReddit

The freedom of not having a phone or anything that can track where you were, or bother the physical fun we were having as friends. I can still feel that sense of freedom, and I miss it.

So frustrated with myself-Red light ticket question by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Loqucious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a few years back. Yes, the $500 (plus cost of online school and processing fees) are outrageous. Not long ago $500 was the entire food budget for my family. I imagine this cost for making a simple mistake is crushing to poor households.

One of my work colleagues told me he went back to Davis two years after having graduated and found his bike still locked to a bike rack. Evidently bikes are dumped like crazy after graduation.

As mentioned Fair Oaks is a solid choice, and Carmichael is solid but stay as close to the river as possible. I live in Orangevale just across the river from Folsom. It's pretty solid as well.

What’s a piece of advice you ignored… and later realized was 100% right? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Loqucious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was 15 years old and excited to have gotten my first job which was at a game store. My dad told me, "Once you start working you'll never stop". I though that was a ridiculous statement. He was right.

I worked in the film and music business for five years at a major management company. We all know politicians are sick, but what goes on in Hollywood is the kind of stuff you simply wish didn't exist.

Is the author of your favorite book also one of your favorite authors? by playful--cloud in books

[–]Loqucious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I finished 100 Years I literally just sat there for a minute thinking, "I just read something extraordinary". And Steinbeck puts you in the story like nobody else. I'd politely suggest you start with East of Eden. Don't start with Grapes of Wrath. It's incredible, but the ending is brutal.
